not to ruin anybody's breakfast, but I heard something really "ALIEN" to American sesnse anyway, PM Gordon Brown of The United Kingdom was addressing a joint sessoin of the US Congress yesterday and announced that Queen Elizabeth II had mad Sen. Ted Kennedy an Honorary Knight!

I didn't think non-British citizens could be knighted.

I don't usually ping you to threads like this ine, Snugs, but I need your opinion on this about making an American Senator a knight. Does this mean we have to call him "Sir Teddy"?

Americans cannot be knights of the realm.

With State department permission, a US citizen can receive an honorary knighthood, one with the title, but none of the perks or obligations.
