Your examples of Michigan sound sort of like......."since there were half a dozen boaters lost in the gulf this weekend, therefore the whole gulf region is always horribly unfit at all times for all boating".......

HOT: More than half of floriduh's wonderful weather makes people yearn to live in Baghdad.
FLAT: Floriduh, a place where the highest points are every overpass you drive on.

Ah yes, the same old familiar refrain of hot*, flat and ugly. You may be right. That would certainly explain why the Super Bowl is so often held in Michigan and why someone from the winning team always says, "I'm going to Detroit!"

*Were it not for the "hot" in hot, flat and ugly, I would have thought that you were describing Michigan's wimmens. :>)
