The other rant was “The Bears are who we thought they were.”
Of course, that was nothing compared to his immortal “Manager’s Corner” interview. This is a relatively clean forum, so I’ll let y’all find that one yourselves.
This shouldn’t be a surprise. Al Davis has never kept a coach after a season in which they didn’t win at least five games. Kiffin won less than five games. He got fired.
“They are who we thought they were.” After the Cardinals blew a huge lead against the Bears, they even turned it into a Bud Light Commercial.
Dennis Green = The African-American Rich Kotite.
“I gotta tell ya, I love that Denny Green! He was great coaching Moss and Culpepper. He’ll get them back to the Super Bowl in no time!”
“Uh, Al... you sent Randy to the Patriots, and he is going to the Super Bowl... Daunte kinds sucks now...”
“See? I told you so... Now, change out my Depends, and get me Denny on the phone! Call him at one of those restaurants of his!”
“Which one?”
“You know... Lenny’s!”
“Denny’s.”
“You’re fired, too!”
I got to watch both rants live on TV as it happened. A rarity.
What was the story of that “Manager’s Corner” anyway? Was it just a practice or did it actually go out over the air? Never fails to crack me up! “Team speed!”
I’m actually not sure, though I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that was on the air.
