Not much different from what many freepers were saying on the day it happened.True, but you understand that saying something on an internet site and saying it over the public airways is a much different thing.

I suppose, but it still makes the person saying it a jerk, no matter what the forum.

It was “Bailiff....smack his peepee” from that Cheech and Chong album.

Yep. Again one of those far too often recurring times why I wonder why I bother with this place anymore.

Maybe Gibby was reacting to the crazy reaction of the media? If that were the case he would have asserted his opinions regarding the media and not made unfounded remarks about this kid. Why didn't he do that? My guess would be he is as much a media whore as the rest of them are.

During a Monday Night Football game in 1983, Cosell said, “Look at that little monkey run” about Alvin Garrett of the Washington Redskins. He left the booth that year, claiming he was bored with MNF, but many believe he was forced out.

Unfortunately, yes, they have been lost, certainly on TV and all of Hollywood.
Was I really so crass as to dishonor the dead, nope, I'm just sick and tired of all of the media's obsession with the tragic deaths of famous personalities.
I pray for Heath's soul, for his family and friends and those in the public who worship famous people and publicize the tragic and unnecessary death -- but one's life choices have consequences, sometimes they result in your premature death.

Im trying to figure out why the guy was so loved anyhowWhile I'm sure he was loved by the people close to him, I don't think he was that big of a star.
The media's looking for something to hype, as usual.
To: Steve_Seattle
At my office, on the day he died, there was a guy telling everyone, "Hey, did you hear about Heath Ledger??". Almost everyone he asked that question to said: "Who's that?" It was funny actually! (that almost nobody knew who he was; not HL dying, that is)....AND he was asking people in their late 20s/early 30s to top it off.

Whatever. I’m just stunned that this death is such a big story. Yeah, he’s a big time “star,” and yeah, he is reputed to have substance abuse problems—but really, this is a tragedy that shouldn’t be in the headlines. We worship “stars” far too much. Gibson could have been more diplomatic, or better yet, chosen a real story for comments.

"The media's looking for something to hype, as usual."Often, the media does this when there's something they don't want the public to notice. Which of the other stories we all follow (that aren't general/chat fodder) might be the one they hope no one will pay attention to?
