Why I'm STILL voting For Fred Thompson
01/24/2008 | davidlachnicht

Posted on 01/24/2008 9:46:42 AM PST by davidlachnicht

I want to speak to every one of you who supported Fred Thompson:

I have long ago combed the websites of the candidates, read the threads that chided or extolled their records,
and tried to gage their character even though filtered and massaged by their supporters and the MSM.
With Fred's withdrawl, and now left without a candidate for the upcoming primary,
I have re-reviewed the GOP hopefuls, and dismayed that I am satisfied with none.

When I go to the polls, I will still be voting for Fred Thompson, and the more I've thought about it, the more I urge Fred-Heads to do the same.

If you believe as I do, that Mr. Thompson was the only Conservative
(that is, the only Conservative who wouldn't allow us to be pushed around by International concensus-ism or slaughtered by radical Islam),
then vote to continue to have convention delegates "promised" to Fred.

IF YOU WANT TO SEND A MESSAGE,
ONE THAT CANNOT HELP BUT BE HIGHLY VISIBLE
TO THE GOP AND THE MSM, VOTE FRED.

Well even dead I think Reagan is a far sight better than the group we have now. At least we know exactly where he stands.

or lies I guess I should say.

I can’t vote for any of the other candidates. So why not vote for Fred. It does not matter who wins the Republican primary. They are all bad, in different ways. And none of them will win in the general election.

I agree with you on all of this for the last part, which is actually the SCARIEST thing, to me -- that ANY of them could win in the general election because the Democrat candidates are the weakest that party has had in decades. Overestimating Hillary was STUPID STUPID STUPID and has resulted in a Republican primary field so horrific that many of us are just turning our backs on the whole thing. Republicans can have the Stupid Party. I don't want it anymore.

If you check the Tennessee Secretary of State office you will find that Fred Thompson (as well as Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo) are still on the Republican primary ballot. This is due to the fact that the absentee ballots are typically mailed out 20 or more days before the election. Of course that does not include time to actually certify and produce the absentee ballots after the slate of candidates has been determined. The actual cut-off date for including a candidate on a ballot was December 11, 2007 in Tennessee. In other words, if a candidate withdrew before Dec. 11, he or she would not be on the ballot.

I agree; Romney is skin-crawling creepy.

You make the mistake of thiking that those of us who refuse to support the Republican primary candidates left are playign an "all or nothing" game. In fact, it's precisely because I so completetly understand the reality that politics is all about compromise and choosing the lesser of two evils, that I am turning away from The Stupid Party.

Arnold Scwarzenegger taught me well: A Liberal Democrat is the lesser of two evils when his opponent is a Liberal Republican.

Republicans have probably already lost, barring a miracle at the Republican convention.By the time the general election is over, no matter which candidate wins, Republicans and America will have lost.

Disgusting.

I plan on voting for Fred in the primary here in Connecticut, McInsane has a 20 pt. lead over the next candidate, Huckster.

I wouldn't for for either one.

Agreed. As I have planned to do for quite a while.

Don’t listen to the naysayers. Vote for the original, not the emulated version.

All but 7 States allow for write ins, even on e-ballots. Those that do not allow for write ins, should be voted either in person at your local Registrar’s office, or by absentee ballot.

It seems to me that people either support the Constitution or they don’t, and that it’s fairly easy to assess which group a given candidate falls into. Perhaps you have different standards for your voting.

Tell ya’ what. I’ll back your guy, sponsored by Hunter, if Hunter will transfer all the money donated to his campaign to the RINO he endorsed.

Cool?

I will vote for my choice, and you will be irrelevant.

If I and thinkers like me are so irrelevant, why are you reading and responding to our posts?

I'll tell you why: it's because you know very well that we are indeed VERY relevant, as much if not more so than you.

Thanks for taking the responsibility, though, because your "choice" will, win or lose, be WORTHY of the blame he will so richly deserve for further destroying freedom and prosperity in this nation, and you will be saddled with deserved blame for enabling him so willingly.

Actually, I quite like American Centurion's idea of doing the unthinkable and support the most overtly (as opposed to covert, like Romney) traitorious Republican of all, McCain, in order to give the back-stabbing Party Elite what it has earned.

Perhaps I do.

Here is my standard: My primary is February 5. I will vote for the candidate who is most in tune with my conservative views. I will do the same in the general.

You may vote by whatever standard you wish, or stay home. I don’t care what you do. For all I know, all you screamers are Dem plants, trying to elect Hillary.

Thanks Finny,

I think its almost crazy enough to work. Its obvious to me that even here on the premier conservative website that true conservatives can’t get party support. I hope there’s a whole lot of folks like you and I that are ticked enough to give the moderate amd liberal wing of the gop exactly what its been asking for.

I’m almost giddy with the thought that its possible to go to the polls in a few years and not pinch my nose while I vote for “the most conservative” candidate. I’m sick of it.
