It was a bad night for robbers in Memphis.
The first incident happened at about 11:45 Wednesday night at a business in the 100 block of Peebles Road in South Memphis. Two suspects attempted to break into the store by ramming through the front door with a vehicle.
The business owner was present at the time and shot one of the suspects as they fled, according to Memphis Felony Response.
A short time later, a man matching the suspects description arrived at the Methodist South Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was transferred to The Med, where he remains in critical condition.
Memphis police have the man in custody, but he has not yet been charged.
Another robber was shot this morning in North Memphis.
It happened in the 800 block of N. Avalon, near Jackson Avenue.
A homeowner and his wife were awakened by a prowler at 2 a.m. The 56 year-old man grabbed his handgun and went to investigate. When he confronted the intruder a struggle ensued and he shot the suspect.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Neither shooter has been charged with a crime.
I love a happy ending!
Well, at least one of them isn’t going to cost taxpayer money. Bravo Zulu!
Sad....
Why, why, why did this have to happen? An absolute tragedy! We must ask ourselves as a society what went wrong. Was the weapon unpowered? Should he have taken a head shot? More range time? It it just so sad when one of these creeps survives. I hope, at least, that he suffered...
Thanks for posting, I needed a happy story this morning.
“...It was a bad night for robbers in Memphis....”
However, it was a GREAT night for the citizens of Memphis. We don’t have to deal with one of these pricks. Someone had a good bead on his target. The other, not so good.

Best line to close every single one of these articles.
More bad days for robbers!
I recall the policy of some Gurkha units working in Italy with the British Eighth Army during the Second World War. When they'd find an outpost along the enemy lines where the German or Italian sentries weren't taking the war seriously enough to suit the Nepalese [who found soldiering a near-religious matter] they'd go in at night with their khukuri knives and liven things up, in a sense.
Depending on circumstances and the size of their patrol, they'd behead either every other or all but one of their enemise, and if one was sleeping particularly well, would surrpound his position with the severed heads of his partners. In at least one case, they set one enemy head very gently on the snoozing chest of another, as a greeting for when the sleepy troop woke up.
Great pranksters, those jolly Gurkhas! But leaving one recipient around to spread the word to others can be a sound and honourable tactic, as well as conforming to daily bag limits.
Do not despair Onelifetogive the creep is not out of the woods yet. We may have a joyful outcome still.
He was transferred to The Med, where he remains in critical condition.
