My piece about Hunter ending his candidacy (Vanity)

Posted on 01/19/2008 9:51:57 PM PST by wastedyears

The things I could say to the Hunter detractors will give the Mods and JimRob massive heart attacks. But I won’t do that.

I do hope you’re all happy now. You, along with the others and the lame-stream media, have succeeded in forcing Hunter to drop out. After him, there isn’t any other Conservative in the race. No, Thompson doesn’t come close as he’s supported amnesty, campaign-finance reform and voted to give China permanent MFN status. You all have succeeded in forcing our absolute best chance of turning this country around to drop out. The one man who won’t sell this country out to Cuba, Venezuela, China, Russia, North Korea, or any of our enemies in the Middle East. The one man who WILL get the border fence built in six months; I’m willing to travel south to provide security in any capacity to ensure the fence is built. The only guy who would prevent more American jobs from being shipped overseas.

No, I’m not supporting anybody else for the Presidency. I intend to write him in for the Primary and General in CT. We’ve already lost our only chance to save this country.

Everybody else is just unacceptable.

Fred Thompson would lose all credibility with me if he endorsed McCain. However, I doubt this will happen.

Your sour grapes are on display... or is it just a case of a sore loser?

The buck stops at the top. The only one responsible for the failure is the man at the top where the buck stops. If he failed it was his of his own doing.

Life goes on and one can wallow in rejection or pick up and move on to the next opportunity.

Gloves are off. If the local Dem candidate sounds better than the Republican. They get my vote.

If you vote for a Democrat candidate in Congress you will just give Hillary Clinton a filibuster proof congress. That means Hillary Or McCain or Huckabee can nationalize the health care, oil and other industries, let in 100 million illegals and give them welfare, destroy American culture with their cultural Marxism, ban guns, increase taxes, grow the government - in other words socialism. Venezuela will seem like a paradise compared to a U.S. with Hillary and a filibuster proof congress.

I have to disagree. The liberal mainstream media has placed McCain and Huckabee as the front runners for the GOP nomination. You can’t tell me that if Americans or Republicans actually knew the records of McCain, Huckabee, and Hunter that they would vote for McCain and Huckabee.

Huckabee and McCain are for giving Amnesty to 30 million illegals and their families back in the 3rd world. How many people do you think actually know this and these 2 clowns’ long records favoring illegal immigrants? The media just shows sound-bites of Huckabee and MCain lying about their position on immigration and other issues saying what is more popular with the primary voters.

Hunter has a long record of being against illegal immigration and against Amnesty for them. McCain and Huckabee have a long record of being for illegal immigrants and are for Amnesty for illegals. If I had a 3 TV networks and hundreds of newspapers I'd repeatedly blast this message into people's homes and then I'd point out the consequences of letting in 100 million 3rd world , socialist illegals. You think that wouldn't have an effect? well the media is doing the opposite of what I would do and that is showing McCain and Huckabee in the most positive light while hiding their terrible records on immigration, taxes, big government, etc.

I just have time for one example because I'm under the weather, but the media does this on many other issues and the liberal mainstream media also gives almost no coverage to Hunter and especially his record but has given the equivalent of billions of dollars in free ads to Huckabee and McCain.

You disagree I disagree.... but it’s nice to have that option for each of us.

Hunter spent the better part of his adult life in Congress. I see him more of a nuts and bolts person as opposed to a visionary.

Did he really make a name for himself across the nation? Did he rise to major positions within the party? Did he become a go to person that others would seek out for help? Was he in demand as a nationally known speaker/leader/fundraiser? Did other candidates seek his appearances/endorsements for their campaigns?

It’s no ones fault but his own that he never became known nationally, within the party, etc. etc. He spent almost 28 years in Congress and had a great platform from which to develope that recognition. He didn’t thus the buck stops at his feet.

Hope you get to feeling well soon.

You have a far too optimistic attitude toward the majority of the citizens of the US. Most are uninformed and would vote for Hillary because she was such a “nice woman”. If the citizenry of the US were informed, they’d be behind Hunter or Thompson. It didn’t happen and we are going to get a RINO as a candidate and prolly a liberal woman or Muslim as the next President.

I recommend buying lots of ammo because when they get in one will need a political appointee to allow you to buy ammo. Look for weapon registration and confiscation of all calibers above .50, nevermind black powder antique weapons. Screw having money in the bank, taxes are going to go through the roof to pay for the Democrat's voter peccadilloes...

Thanks for the ping. I notice that the anti-conservatives continue to dance on the grave of Hunter’s candidacy. Free Republic has been overtaken by RINOs.

I know this sounds silly but how can any respectable man vote for Hillabeast to run our Military. I have no respect for any man who would do that and I have a nasty name for them. This Country has gone insane.

I’m not a Hunter supporter, but what you’re saying makes no sense. If Hunter had such minimal and insigificant support, how did they ruin the candidacy of Fred Thompson? Maybe you need to accept that Thompson’s chances really aren’t much better than Hunters. My guy, Ron Paul, has a better chance than Thompson (or Giuliani) at this point. Now, it’s probably between McCain, Romney, Huckabee, and just saying “screw it”. I’m sure you can guess what my option is.

Using your thinking, to get the best conservative during the primary, we all ought to write in the most conservative person we know. That’s the only way we can each assure our personal best choice is chosen—remember, name recognition and funding must be ignored, as per Hunter fans such as yourself.

If everyone wanted a true conservative, they should be writing in my name or each of your names, right? How about everyone’s most conservative friend or relative? This is the only thread of consistency that appears to come from your approach.

With your thinking, we are untrue to ourselves unless we do the above-mentioned items.

It has been for a while, it's only now becoming obviously apparent.

How is it his fault when most of the MSM never gave him any attention to begin with? I bet they said “Oh no, this guy knows what he’s talking about, plus he’s actually accomplished things... we can’t allow him to be President.”

The media won, you all helped just on this forum. What’s the next move?

Al Gore has spoken around the world, and become quite wealthy due to a farce. Does that make him better? Only in the sense that he created a false problem and got the world’s collective panties in a bunch over it.

Does it make him a better person for it? Absolutely not

Now were supposed to *get over it*. Sorry, but out here its too fresh in my mind how the Republicans thruout the state overwhelmed us with Arnold, if anyone was ever made for publicity in a political campaign it was him. What a circus and people bought it lock stock & barrel. Now—well, the wailing and teeth-knashing has been going on for years. The first week he was in office, the Dem legislature pounced on him and the great he-man went from lion to p**sy in one day.
