Limbaugh Attacks Ronald Reagan... Mods ZOT newbie
Rush Limbaugh's Website ^ | 01/14/2008 | Quiverdaddy

Posted on 01/14/2008 8:27:39 PM PST by Quiverdaddy

Has El Rushbo actually forgotten how our coalition was built?

"Both McCain and Huckabee are actively seeking support from non-Republicans. If I didn't know better, I'd say some of these candidates have some sort of grudge against the Republican Party and are trying to harm it."

Seems like he has. Think what you will about McCain or Huckabee, but Rush is not right on this one. In fact, there was another guy who appealed to Democrats and Independents in building a winning electoral coalition. Rush has heard of him... and even has an affectionate name for him: Ronaldus Magnus.

I know all the concerns people have about McCain -- and they are well founded. Trick is, in order to allow that Mitt Romney is a conservative, one must also assume Mike Huckabee is a conservative as well. Visit MikeHuckabee.com and view his positions on issues instead of listening to the establishment hit police. What you will see is the rebuilding of the coalition years of Bush/Clinton/Bush has eroded.

Again, I can create a web site that could say Hillary is to the right of Reagan.

Prove is in the historic actions and efforts.

Still waiting on the refutation of that...

Just wow, unspun. You've been a good and reasonable poster on all sorts of issues. I honestly can't believe you'd so vociferously back this guy. Huckabee's "surge" started a couple of months ago when he was profiled as a guitar and rock 'n' roll nut in Rolling Stone , and suddenly every 20-something journalist in the country wanted to write about him. "Dude! A Republican that Rocks!"

Then, after getting that rock 'n' roll spin, he added Christianity to glom onto more peeps, and reassure the Bible Belters who don't like rock 'n' roll.

All of a sudden, he's a top contender for the GOP nomination, made so entirely by the liberal media and his own spinmeisters.

Why does the liberal media like him? Just like McCain, they like him because he would be a cakewalk for Hillary or Obama.

I truly, honestly, can't believe you don't realize that this is the liberal media trying to pick our easily-defeated candidate for us. Good Lord.

The burden of proof lies with the accusation, in America.

I have. The guy is just another politician promising things to people, instead of a politician challenging people to be the best for themselves. Absolutely no thanks.

Been done, over and over and over...

Now time for the defense...

Or is it case closed for the Prosecution?

I beg to differ. But what he is not doing is going to people struggling to make ends meet and coming across as Mr. Government telling them they just aren't working hard enough and that they just need to do better at taking care of themselves.

A Fair Deal for All Americans

Huckabee "That's why I am putting forward a long-term plan, as well as a short-term plan, so that we can boost confidence RIGHT NOW, while adding to our national strength for the 21st century. Americans want to work, and they want to work hard. They want to compete, and to compete hard. They want to win."

You see, he is confident in the American people and their own initiative -- he doesn't seek some excuse and tell them to "make more bricks with less straw."

Truly. You are being misled into supporting an Arkansas politician, as those who thought Bill Clinton was the "answer" were. That state does NOT produce leaders. It produces showmen and opportunists. It always has. As a marketer, I admire the way Huckabee has been marketed. But what it comes down to is a guy who wants to be President, whatever it takes. Not a guy who wants to be President because he feels a need to protect and lead the country. I'm very sorry, but you are being skillfully used by a media that wants a weak candidate for the Democrats to roll over, just as they worked their chicanery to make us pick Bob Dole in '96.

For this country to survive and thrive, we in the Republican/conservative matrix MUST resist the temptation to pick the candidate the MEDIA wants us to run.

You sound like you’re doing a good job for the $$$ you’re being paid by the Huckabee Corporation. I would, too, if I had the gig.

But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are somehow MOTIVATED to back this incredible lightweight.

I’m into this for the Conservative future for our country.

As I’ve said, the Drive-By-Media OBVIOUSLY wants the GOP to go with Huckabee or McCain.

For Godsake, don’t you realize they’re backing the two candidates that EITHER HILLARY OR OBAMA COULD EASILY BEAT??? The Evangelical and the Old Guy???

If you DO realize this ... There are no words.

Huckabee, McCain ... You're backing who the Drive-By Media wants you to back, in order that Hillary! or Obama have an easy road. If the GOP nominates Huckabee, look forward to them interviewing ONLY goofy Evangelicals when they do Huckabee stories; if the GOP nominates McCain, look forward to them going nuts for six months about how OLD he is, and how he doesn't get questions or screws up answers because he's OLD.

All I'm saying is, DON'T PICK THE GOP CANDIDATE THE MEDIA WANTS YOU TO PICK!

Reagan appealed to Democrats by being who he was, not trying to "out-democrat the democrats" like so many RINO candidates are doing. That is what Rush was pointing out.

Anybody with at least a double-digit IQ would know that....

Rush is a blowhard and not nearly as smart as some of you would like to believe.

As a Huckabee supporter from SC -- who also probably finds issue with Limbaugh's limited government messages -- you probably did not vote for DeMint and wish that Beasley would have won.
