Has El Rushbo actually forgotten how our coalition was built?
"Both McCain and Huckabee are actively seeking support from non-Republicans. If I didn't know better, I'd say some of these candidates have some sort of grudge against the Republican Party and are trying to harm it."
Seems like he has. Think what you will about McCain or Huckabee, but Rush is not right on this one. In fact, there was another guy who appealed to Democrats and Independents in building a winning electoral coalition. Rush has heard of him... and even has an affectionate name for him: Ronaldus Magnus.
I know all the concerns people have about McCain -- and they are well founded. Trick is, in order to allow that Mitt Romney is a conservative, one must also assume Mike Huckabee is a conservative as well. Visit MikeHuckabee.com and view his positions on issues instead of listening to the establishment hit police. What you will see is the rebuilding of the coalition years of Bush/Clinton/Bush has eroded.
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that "all men are created equal."
kung fu kitties getting ready.
Keep swinging...
Sorry.
Your first three words tells us all we need to know.
Never liked that much, either. There are some lines that should not be crossed.
Mods got Huckleberry Hound.
You have been zot’ed troll.
I wasn't done playin' with him!
Oh well .............
Down, Viking kitties!
No, the left button is the trap door. The right button is the high-voltage zot. Now I have troll all over the screen.
IATZ *waves away smoke*
The man who believes it's our biblical duty to stop global warming? The man who says cutting entitlements to illegals is like grinding a heel "in the face of a 6-year-old child"? The man who's called for a national smoking ban? The man who criticized the Bush tax cuts as being for "the people at the top end of the economic scale"? The man who flat-out lied about supporting the President and the troop surge? The man who set up a wedding registry 30 years after his wedding so he could accept larger gifts on his way out of the Governor's mansion? The man who's been endorsed by the socialist NEA in New Hampshire?
Aside from the red-meat issues of abortion and gay marriage, I can't think of any principle Huckabee isn't willing to sell down the river. The guy is a lying, pandering, wholly insincere political hack. The best thing I can say about him is, he's half a shade better than John McCain. That's about it.
I am thinking in terms of pre-crime from “Minority report”. If you guys can come up with the Pre-Zot, it would help with bandwidth and storage;-)
1. Huckabee maintains he does not see conclusive evidence whether global warming is significantly caused by man or not.
2. Huckabee has a more stringent border/immigration plan than Fred Thompson.
3. I haven’t heard him calling for a federal smoking ban.
4. Show me the exact quote about the Bush tax plan in its context. Wouldn’t trouble me much if he preferred more cuts for middle incomes.
5. He did support the surge, every time he was asked, but at first mentioned reservations about the burden placed upon his Arkansas National Guard.
6. His staff arranged that tax deduction regarding the second ceremony (celebrating a move in Arkansas protecting marriage). But I think he himself may have paid a fine.
7. I’m glad Huckabee can get support of even his natural opponents. Excellent politics.
8. You appear ignorant of Huckabee’s principles, positions, and policy suggestions. No surprise — you are biased. Here are some of Huckabee’s isssues:
