We had a Seuss exhibit here at the San Diego Museum of Art years ago.
They made a HUGE cut out of The Cat in the Hat to peek up over the beautiful
museum building in Balboa Park. Unforgettable.
His least successful effort was “McElligot’s Pool”, a beautifully illustrated, painterly book
which failed because it wasn’t his usual heavily outlined style.
He said kids by far prefer a pen-and-ink, linear look with color filled in.
At least in his experience. He was actually a pretty good painter.
When we first moved here, I commented on the silly looking “Dr. Seuss trees”
all over San Diego (taaaalllll, skinny palm trees with a teeny scrub of fronds on top,)
not realizing that Theodore Geisel was from in La Jolla (north SD county) and really DID get his tree inspirations from the flora and fauna right here!

Never heard of that book.

Mariah Carey to Guest Judge ‘American Idol’
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,338301,00.html
Mariah Carey is coming to “American Idol.” The best-selling female pop star of the last two decades will show those kids how its done, no doubt, and maybe even comment on some of that singing (although, to this ear, Amanda Overmyer already knows what to do).
Mariahs AI appearance is part two of her well-constructed campaign to promote her new CD, E=MC2, which hits stores on April 15. Mariah will appear on “AI” on April 16.

KELLIE PICKLER RETURNS TO AMERICAN IDOL TO PERFORM WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, ON FOX
http://www.celebrityspider.com/news/march08/article031808-6.html
Season Five finalist Kellie Pickler returns to the AMERICAN IDOL stage, to perform her hit single, Red High Heels, Wednesday, March 19 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
After competing on AMERICAN IDOL, Pickler signed with 19 Recordings/BNA Records, and soon thereafter released her debut album, Small Town Girl. The album quickly became the best-selling debut by a solo country artist that year and was certified gold in January 2007.

Her singles, I Wonder and Red High Heels, were both Top 15 hits, and her third single, Things That Never Cross A Mans Mind, is currently in the Top 20. Pickler is currently on tour with Rascal Flatts.

Kelly Clarkson Goes Commando 3/18/08
http://www.celebrityspider.com/news/march08/article031708-15.html
Kelly Clarkson fears she’ll be the next celebrity caught in a knickerless photo controversy - because she always goes ‘commando’.
The singer claims she hates wearing underwear and refused to wear panties throughout the entire run of American Idol, because it gave her good luck.
She says, “Why’d anyone want a little thing up their butt when they can go free?”
I have to confess. When I read the headline, I had no idea what they meant. Learn something new every day.
It seems like if you didn’t wear underwear then your pants would go up your butt.

I think it’s annoying enough that someone will will probably advise him to stop doing that. It’ll be interesting to see if he tries not to do it and if that throws him off. Last week’s performance suggests he may not be as steady a performer as I thought.

b9, that's great! :)
I know it's TMI, but the illogic of it bugged me.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - Country singer Carrie Underwood, who kicked off her career winning Fox Television’s “American Idol” contest, will be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, officials announced on Tuesday.
Underwood, 25, who won the “American Idol” contest in 2005, captured Female Vocalist of the Year honors at both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards shows.
