The thing is, I dont think she was in the mood to spit on him, much less talk to him. Shed been through heck, she was dreading seeing him, shed been punched by a friend of his, her car had been keyed.....There was no love in their relationship.
I dont doubt that she could very likely have been picked up by him- but more like coerced verbally or physically forced.
I'm tending more to your way of looking at how she ended up at his house. That article from Dayton Daily painted a different view of the "relationship" from Maria's perspective. This party that all three could have attended coincides with the timeline of Maria's death on Dec. 14. I hope they're going back and reinterviewing the attendees, people on base, etc. to pursue that avenue.
Also, it is quite possible Maria could have been paranoid if she heard the rumors that Cesear was spreading about his wife being pregnant. She may have feared he had plans for her baby? Why would he tell his friends his wife was pregnant when she was not? Now that is bizarre.
