January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.
They said she’s buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.
They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.
Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."
Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.
She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.
Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.
Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.
Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.
Nope I don’t think that is her hand. That middle finger is at least 1 joint longer than the others from that picture. I have that thing embedded in my mind from looking. Even with her hand cupped on his chest, both middle and ring finger is bent alittle....they appear to be of normal length. Who ever is at the ATM definately has a longer than normal middle finger....or looks that way to me.

Piece of skull found (not while greta was there) Beat to death in garage and taken out the back garage door to be buried and burned. Boards removed from fence and because they found staples and nails in the fire pit, they believe that the boards had been put on top of Maria when she was burned. Blood stains on fllor and wall in garage and they used luminol. Also found the other shoe in garage with blood on the floor by that shoe.

Also, a lot of bins in the garage that look like there was blood spatter and those are being tested. Blood on both walls and ceiling. Appeared to be fresh paint in living room, but they don’t know for sure. More blood in garage than living room.
You’re welcome! Also, a lot of blood on garage floor...cleaned up probably more was there than what was found due to cleaning.

The Laureans must have missed that piece when cleaning up. They didn’t say how large it was. Grrr This is so disgusting what they did to her and her baby.
