Fedora will feature KDE 4.0 in Fedora 9, to be released in April,

This kinda sux. I was hoping they'd make it available for Fedora 8 as well--they have the kde4 betas in teh F8 repositories.

A month old Ubuntu (7.10 release) user here. Did you go straight to KDE, or did you pause on the easier levels? I ask because the gnome level (I assume) is for Ubuntu nubes like me. Thanks for any advice. (Quantative / num cruncher with online radio, nothing fancier needed.)

Well, I enabled the development repository for Fedora this morning and executed the following command:
yum --enablerepo=development install kdebase-workspace
The confirmation came back asking to install 41 packages, update 202 packages, and download 445M. I declined, as according to the forums I've seen, there is no way ot have both KDE 3.5.8 and KDE 4 on the same system using RPMs. While I could easily restore my system (/home is backed up and on a separate fs), I figured v3.5.8 was still good enough for now. I'll wait until Fedora 9 comes out to upgrade.

Looks good, sounds good. When Hardy comes out as stable, I might try it.
I’m still struggling with Hardy alpha2. :)
