Well, in a few hours, a few LSU folks will recall with dread the name Greg Frey. Yep, the Buckeye quarterback no one remembers but die-hard Buckeye and LSU fans. The quarterback who led the team to one of the most spectacular comebacks ever witnessed at Ohio Stadium.
As Wikipedia puts it: On September 24, 1988, he rallied Ohio State from a 33-20 deficit in the final four minutes for a 36-33 victory over the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers.
I was at that game in the shoe, urging all the fans who were leaving early to stay put. It was gratifying to see them pour back in as the miracle comeback unfolded. When Bobby Olive made that flying catch in the end zone for the win, I distinctly remember sharing overwhelmingly jubilant joy with thousands of other Buckeyes around me.
The LSU fans who shuffled back to their cars were morose indeed .... it's a long long drive to Louisiana from Ohio. These same fans are now hoping for a dose of that gloom to be heaped upon the carloads of Bucknuts on their way back home from the Dome tonight.
I have some advice for Tiger fans: don't buy the extra beer for the party after the game. The spirit of Greg Frey is with us still.
OSU over Tigers, 24-21.

As a gator fan, I agree. I would love to see a double elimination playoff. One midwest team, USC, and one ringer and the rest from the S-E-C.

I love to see USC in the SEC. I know it would never happen but it would make the dominate conference even better.

The LSU team was just chanting SEC, SEC, SEC they know that is the badge of victory. As a Gator fan, all I can say is good job, they beat us and that is what counts. Next year...? Tee-bo! Tee-bo! Teeeee-bo!!
Don’t ya just luv it.

Photoshopped a Ramirez cartoon a bit....not the greatest job, but hey, it's after midnight.
If I were feeling really nasty I would've left the orginial 'Islamic Extremism' writing in the tiger's stripes ;) (One FReeper who was an OSU fan posted a pic of bin Laden wearing a Michigan football shirt, LOL!)

Before I get back to work, I wanted to thank everyone for participating in the College Football threads throughout the season. From the SEC menagerie, the Texas Tech contingent, the USC fans, Biggirl and Man50D representing the UConn Huskies, the great Ohio State fans that show up week after week, and everyone else regardless of if you're a big school or a not so big school...you were all a part of the fun this year.
When I first picked up the ping list, I had no clue what I was doing. Now here in 2008...well, I still don't know what I'm doing but I do a better job of faking it now. Anyway, it's been a tremendous pleasure to interact with other college football fans here this season. We now forge on to the college hoops season and for that, I'll turn you over to our old pal and resident North Carolina Tar Heel Perdogg. Thanks again for participating and getting to know yours truly.
(yes this is me, try and keep the laughter to yourselves please. Thank you.)

The midwest teams are a joke.
Who was ranked #1 defensively in the nation? Who stood at #1 for most of the season? Oh, that's right...OSU!
We just fell flat when it really mattered.

The next person that tells me SEC football stinks is in for it. I’ll take fast, athletic and finesse anytime over slow as molasses!
That being said, penalties, missed opportunities and forgetting to use a FB in tandem with Chris Wells all played roles in this freaking debacle. Oh and Todd Boeckman is not very good.

All I have to say about Victory on Election night is that the SEC will do its part! What about the rest of the country?????????

Funny! On a par with the photo I saw on this thread with an OSU Jersey Guy kissing a U of M Jersey girl.
BTW - Was the Osama U of M guy from U of M’s Dearborn Campus? Just a joke.

Thanks for all the great threads this year, GOP_Raider.
College football is a great American tradition and it is right that we should celebrate that tradition here on FR.
Congratulations to the Bayou Bengals and Louisiana. National champions and a new conservative governor all at once. Sounds like a plan!
I hope we all have a great football season next year with our new Republican President-elect.

Is LSU favored by 2 STDs? Since Maurice Clarett is not playing, that might be correct.

The sports section of my paper had stats on both teams. The Key Stat that mattered was OSU was 0 - 8 against the SEC. Make that 0 - 9 now. Ouch, that is going to leave a mark.
To: I Drive Too Fast
OSU was 0 - 8 against the SEC “in bowl games”
