Ohio State Buckeyes v. LSU Tigers: Live Thread
Buckeye Supporting Freepers! ^ | 7 Jan 07 | GoBucks

Well, in a few hours, a few LSU folks will recall with dread the name Greg Frey. Yep, the Buckeye quarterback no one remembers but die-hard Buckeye and LSU fans. The quarterback who led the team to one of the most spectacular comebacks ever witnessed at Ohio Stadium.

As Wikipedia puts it: On September 24, 1988, he rallied Ohio State from a 33-20 deficit in the final four minutes for a 36-33 victory over the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers.

I was at that game in the shoe, urging all the fans who were leaving early to stay put. It was gratifying to see them pour back in as the miracle comeback unfolded. When Bobby Olive made that flying catch in the end zone for the win, I distinctly remember sharing overwhelmingly jubilant joy with thousands of other Buckeyes around me.

The LSU fans who shuffled back to their cars were morose indeed .... it's a long long drive to Louisiana from Ohio. These same fans are now hoping for a dose of that gloom to be heaped upon the carloads of Bucknuts on their way back home from the Dome tonight.

I have some advice for Tiger fans: don't buy the extra beer for the party after the game. The spirit of Greg Frey is with us still.

OSU over Tigers, 24-21.

I’ll say this: both these teams deserve to be here.

OSU definately needs a TD before halftime, or it’s over.

I’d still say, if there were playoffs, USC would be the team the beat. But yes, given to current system, the right teams are there.

The announcers keep talking about Ohio being the #1 defense and the #this and that——They didn’t play anybody!

Its pretty easy to have high ranked defense when you don’t play anyone.

Now, Pharmboy, I thought we had cease fire in effect till later in the week. Besides I’ve been doing some secret research... seems Witten and Romo were in Mexico because they had to be That’s right. They were drawing up new plays in the sand—away from the spying eyes of the Giants’ goons!

If we had the bracket system, it could have been USC, Georgia, WVU, but at this point the best teams are here.

I’ll say this: both these teams deserve to be here.

As much as it pains me to say this as a Georgia fan, these are the top 2 teamsand deserve to be in this game.

Hopefully the Dawgs did enough to move up to #2 in the final poll

Next year is the Dawgs big chance -- 18 of 22 starters returning. Of course we also play Arizona State, Ga Tech, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina and Kentucky.

Ohio State does not need to make the mistake of abandoning the running game.

IMO that was OSU's mistake last year in the second half.

And they certainly can’t use the excuse of not playing a game since November, since that didn’t seem to be a problem for Meechigan.

OSU definately needs a TD before halftime, or it’s over.

This thing was over on that last interception.

I got home late from work and turned on the game , 10 -0 OSU. I had to make a few phone calls and turned away from the game-—its now 24-10 LSU.
What the hell happened? I guess its gonna be another long night for the Bucko’s.

"Boekman through for his life and almost got killed anyway."

Of course I meant threw. Must have been a Freudian thing, or maybe it was my SEC education. Shucks, should have had a big 11.

Yes, I understand that...it was funny. I do find myself leaning toward the Tigers a little here. I have a lot of respect for their program, having seen quite a bit of it. But I’m really a Razorbacks fan.
