The police had no choice. But the zoo should have been protecting it’s animals better IMHO. People who hiss & taunt animals need to be made to leave asap. They are not there to enjoy the animals but to torture them. And parents who condone this behavior are plain stupid.

Staff or volunteers watching them will stop most of that. Some zoos have “waiting lists” I was at our zoo a few years ago and the monkeys had their place right in front of the entrance.(yes I like monkeys:’) No one was teasing but there were a lot of kids around. There was one that was very angry about something though and he came running and screaming and leaped over the low area. It was like watching fireworks coming right at you. He didn’t quit make it and fell in the pit but another few feet and he would have cleared. I don’t know what he would have done if he got out but he was showing teeth.
