The two brothers injured in the Christmas Day tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo have refused to let police examine photos on their cell phones that authorities believe were taken the day they were mauled and their friend was killed.

< snip >

"We also understand that police officers requested permission from your clients to examine any images and other contents of the cell phone. Your clients refused to cooperate with this request; consequently, no one has yet examined this potentially critical evidence."

I am curious, why are you not considering what may have actually transpired?

I am very interested in what may have actually transpired. But everything we have heard from zoo officials and even some police reports have turned out to be VERY wrong.

"Unless I missed it, it didn’t even mention when the tiger grotto was built."

the grotto, built in 1940, was inspected several years ago by officials from the American Zoological Association and "they raised no concerns about the wall."

Ever try to find a pay phone these days? How about a phone number that's on your cellphone that the cops are holding.

This all makes sense. Without their phones they couldn't make the call.

I don't know about SF, but in MO hospitals have phones everywhere, and jacks everywhere. You just get a phone from the cabinet and plug it in a jack, presto, you can call. I can't believe they couldn't make a call from the hospital.

If you don't know the number it's pretty hard. There are NO public directories for cellphones.

Without their cellphones they don't have their calling directories. Therefore they can't make calls.

This is all reminescent of the debate over the height of the levees in New Orleans.

Turned out none of them were high enough ~ particularly where they broke.

Remember, a levee, or a zoo enclosure wall, is only as high as its LOWEST point!

Yes in the country of concrete and pavement, and street sweepers, and scrub brush, you just pick up a pocket full of rocks.

LOL.

Have you ever been to the bay area?

People weren’t screaming, the monkey was.

That is correct, the monkey was taunting the people, report him!

As I said a clear cut case of monkey taunting by a monkey.

The scream will do the talking

LOL

I bet they really get pissed when a siren goes off, are a planes fly over. Zoo animals are conditioned to noise, they have no choice. Get real, these cats have seen hundreds of thousands of people.

And what in the world is a "clymers"?

And what in the world is a "clymers"?

During the beginning years of the Bush/Cheney presidency VP Cheney was overheard saying that the reporter Adam Clymer is a "first class @sshole."

Ever since then, that name has become synonymous with a certain body part.

Which will make the AZA liable in part for the damages paid to the victims.

The moat is 33 feet across. No one believes a tiger can leap 33 feet in a single bound.

It does not look 33 feet across to me.

Maybe 33 feet at one point. Less than that at other points.

“If the guys in question behaved badly, they should be punished appropriately, but it doesn’t mitigate the zoo’s screwup in the least.”

at the same time, I don’t think these two loser should win one penny in damages.

So now the brothers are accusing the zoo of not helping them, and their slimeball lawyer is upset that his clients actions are being scrutinized.

If the phones are in police custody I don’t understand why they can’t get a court order to examine any evidence they might contain.

Unless, of course, they really don't have probable cause.

After watching guys like Nifong and Fitzgerald in action, putting their lives at the discretion of the justice system would be just a hair less foolish than putting them at the discretion of the tiger.

Thats a good point but the last place my 6 children would have wanted to go is out. They would have been too busy playing with all their toys. I would hope these places that stay open would have more staff if there is such a big turnout on holidays.

The zoo needs to get updated to secure the animals IMHO. People will taunt & do stupid things & the zoo has to protect the animals . People are supposed to know better then to taunt animals or let their children taunt them. I feel badly for everyone in this story but I still say we aren't getting the truth & that something stinks .

That's right. You can generally find all you want in the landscaping off to the side of the pavement.

"Have you ever been to the bay area?"

SF is built on rocky ground. Haven't been there.

"Then, in my sweetest voice, told her, "Star, you are one of the ugliest dogs I have ever seen."

Dogs can pick up some words. Next time do a test, use "cabinet", "handsome", or some other word. Test his reaction just to the word ugly in a regular voice. Also try a nonsense string of words in the sweet voice to see if it's the voice that does it.

They'll just wonder what those sounds are. Also, the presence of people don't matter, unless they are behaving in a provocative way. No one gets alarmed and enraged by folks walking by as they lounge on their yard. If the folks walking by stop to yell, scream and toss rocks at them while they're lounging, they'll get enraged and react.

The camera angle from the rock promontory suggests there is more to the moat from the dirt backwards. Can’t really tell by that photo.
