“Interesting. I wonder if there are some bad batches of this patch out on the market, because sometimes Mom would tolerate it fine and then after I came back home for the holidays, she started having problems.”

I was on the fentanyl patches for six months. Where they were put on and what the temperature was had a major effect on how much of the drug was delivered to my system.

I went into awful depressions when the drug did not get into my system, and got “high” when I got too much.

They are VERY unpredictable in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I hope you are on the mend now.
Mom was apparently almost comotose yesterday, but is much better today. She has been running fever from her radiation & chemo and also was sleeping under an electric blanket, so I am sure this is what happened from what I am reading.

I should hear from the doc today and will be putting my foot down on the patch. Thanks all for starting this thread, it has helped more than you will ever know.

Prayers up for Glenn Beck!

It also varies based on the manufacturer - my mom had to readjust her dosing scheme after she changed pharmacies, because they sold patches from a different manufacturer and the absorption rate seemed to differ between them.
