Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I hope you are on the mend now.
Mom was apparently almost comotose yesterday, but is much better today. She has been running fever from her radiation & chemo and also was sleeping under an electric blanket, so I am sure this is what happened from what I am reading.

I should hear from the doc today and will be putting my foot down on the patch. Thanks all for starting this thread, it has helped more than you will ever know.

Prayers up for Glenn Beck!

It almost certainly is. In fact, if the doctor did not warn you about this very thing, he was negligent IMHO. The amount of drug absorbed through the skin varies a LOT based on body temperature.

There are other things that can be done:

Oral oxycodone or Oxycontin if she tolerates it.

Oral MSContin.

Implantable epidural morphine pump.

Be aggressive with the Docs and make sure your Mom is kept as comfortable as possible. Call in an outside pain management specialist if you can't get the main Dr. to do the right thing.

May God Bless You and Your's

Your mom should be careful with the electric blanket too. No creams like Zostrix or Ben Gay or any analgesic creams w/electric blankets or heating pads.
