There's a Cardinal at my window
Thanking me for food.
Red Feathers explains
He didn't want to be rude.
There's a Cardinal at my window
Thanking me for seeds.
He wanted to assure me
It wasn't all for greed.
There's a Cardinal at my window
With a tear in his eye,
Telling me he regrets the fact
That South he didn't fly.
I promised that I'd feed him
Throughout the winter's cold
And that I thought his beauty
Was a wonder to behold.
Two strangers help each other out.
An odd couple to each other swear.
And I vow to be devout,
For his survival, to be there.
