Yeah...that's a GOOD point about foreign surplus ammo! I forgot about that issue! We decapped, deprimed, sized, trimmed, and reloaded approx 600 rounds of real CRAP that a buddy of mine bought which was Indian surplus. Later on, there was a safety notice issued by several of the outlets. As it turns out, the distance between shoulder and head was a little much and "could" cause a semi-auto weapon to fire OUT OF BATTERY! ...not a good thing!

Only surplus I have NEVER had a problem with is russian X 39 or 54R in the sealed tins........THAT stuff goes BANG every time !

Ruskies have that going for them ....their old ammo is like new in my FPK and MAK90’s.......

Funny, that's what got me started on this .308 kick. I bought a crate of 1979 Portuguese 7.62 NATO about 10-15 years ago. Probably paid about $100 for it. I slid it underneath my work bench "temporarily".

Recently, I was doing some archaeological "excavation", looking for a part that rolled under the bench. Pulled out a lot of crap that I had also "temporarily" stored there. In the very back was this wood crate with canvas carry straps.

It weighed a ton, but I pulled it out, and, lo and behold, 1000 rounds of .308!.
