I have a 6X fixed sight on the standard SOCOM and it is a snap shooting tool for sure. I like it !

It sounds nice. I'll have to give something like that serious consideration.

I'm still thinking over some sort of 7.62 NATO semiauto while waiting for the FN SCAR (two years-to-never, depending on who wins the election). I've always liked the looks of the FN FAL, but I don't know enough about it to make an informed decision. About all I know are the clones range from cheap (and probably junky) to expensive.

Agree ....metric vs inch seems like more trouble than I like . Hiredhand has one I think.....pinged him to see if he has good info. I have always liked the M1A’s.....carried one almost my entire career as an EOD tech in the service. we used the scoped match grade versions for a process called SMUD where we shot small munitions to disrupt them . I figured no reason to pack a M4 as well so I carried two 1911A1’s and a crap load of M1A mags .........good weapon in all environments I was deployed too.

The SOCOM is a great shooter. I am doing a 3 gun match in May and will take the SOCOM with me as well to see how it performs . I expect good things .

Stay safe !
