Part of the problem is that I'm qualified for the job. I've got 5 yrs in the field where most of their new hires are just out of college and, at most, they did an internship there. So from day one it was, "Lil, since you already know about X, you can do this and this and this and that, and here are some draft reports to review and we're going to need to put a working group together and you can be in charge of that and what's your opinion on this strategy because you're in charge of that, too..." and on and on. More than once I said, "Guys! It's only my second day!"
Ack! It's like trying to drink from a fire hose.
Wow - sounds like you hit the ground running, good show! RE steel toed boots, I was surprised to see how many styles of footwear have steel toes these days, even athletic and hiking styles. Course it depends on the spec. required for your job.
I recently got my guys new safety vests (orange with reflective silver was our spec.) but these had pencil pockets, small pocket on front and two inside pockets for a field book. Very handy to keep around.
Yeah, but they like you, they really like you! ;o)
Good idea keeping some 'work duds' handy!
Get some GI flight suit to keep your power suit clean. Then you can add an official-looking leather name patch, too.
Will you get a chance to shoot "it", whatever "it" is?
