I’ve worn my mother’s hand-me-downs for so long. Not that they aren’t nice...she buys top of the line. But I look like a 40 year old woman in a 60 year old woman’s clothes.
That's one of the reasons I started sewing when I was a teenager. I was heavy then, too, and all of the big clothes were old lady clothes. I had taken Home Ec. in the 9th grade, and knew my way around a pattern, so off I went. I made some really cute clothes for myself. I even made a gorgeous plaid taffeta ballroom skirt and a black velvet bomber style jacket for my cousin for a fancy dress party she attended with her boyfriend. I was really proud of that outfit, but I learned the hard way about nap on velvet. I had to go buy another piece of fabric when I cut the first one the wrong way. Won't ever make THAT mistake again! LOL!
