The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

You'd get a kick out of Fannie Flagg's A Redbird Christmas.

We listened to it on our last trip to Kentucky.

So... we have a complaint. LOST isn’t on till 10, and there’s no re-cap to remember where the heck we were.

10?? Ungh...I’d forgotten about that. That’s just *wrong*. :-\ As is the lack of recap.

We aren’t sure if we’re gonna stay up or watch it over the weekend. What are you game for?

Google the ABC LOST site. You can get a recap there (and maybe even watch the last episode). The PODcast is also interesting. Not very informative, but interesting.

I’ve never listened to any of Fannie Flagg’s stuff on audio. I love listening to her talk, though, so I’m sure I’d like it. I’ll have to see if our library has any.

You'd probably enjoy reading it, but the audio was pretty neat since she ~gets~ all the accents. Southern literature is much more effective when it's read with the ~proper~ pronunciations.

“Pee-can”

Must be a Carolina thang. In Mississippi, we say 'puh-cahn'

It just seems awfully late for a weeknight. :-\

Ya know...if we waited until tomorrow or Saturday, we could order pizza or Chinese or something. I still owe you guys a birthday dinner. ;-)

Yah...IMO, pee-can sounds like something you take on long car trips for emergencies. Or something.

That’s why they created Big Gulp cups. Dual purpose.

True. Soda, like beer, isn't bought; it's rented.
