The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It’s a lovely spring day here too, at the moment :~)

We’re waiting for company to come... we’re getting taken out to breakfast for our birthdays :~)

I keep meaning to ask when your birthdays are!

So...I didn’t imagine seeing Ramius’ rig go by a minute ago, then? ;-) Thought I saw a Jeep that looked like his.

Happy birthday!

I just love gliders, even more than porch swings. I want to get one for our new deck, whenever we get the new deck built, that is. ;o)

Pretty cool. But when Denethor goes flaming off the edge it’s pretty much all over.

Okay, so I currently have The Fantastic Four from Netflix. It's just a little disconcerting to see William Wilberforce with super powers...

And so it was. But “Amazing Grace” is a little more recent...

How are you all with riddles? Hobbit news is coming soon and Guillermo has created a riddle for us to figure out :

A riddle for you all-

Half familiar, half unknown.

A thing it is, ¨It almost is-¨

This thing all things devours: Birds, beasts, trees, flowers; Gnaws iron, bites steel; Grinds hard stones to meal; Slays king, ruins town, And beats high mountain down.

The day of the moon will be when all is revealed to thee Questions will cease Answers will please We´ll learn of the Shire and all you desire.

At ten minus Three. Joining to be Ten minus Eight Add to the slate of the two dozen princes that die without winces. And add to each day of the week.

My guess at what the riddle means....

Half familiar, half unknown. - Refers to the two Hobbit films, one half known based on the book, the other 'unknown' a bridge between The Hobbit & LOTR.

The day of the moon will be when all is revealed to thee - Announcement on Monday.

Not too sure about the last part, may refer to a time of the day?

Exciting!

I suspect that's a reference to the 24 time zones. I can't figure out what time zone this will be announced from.

Hmmmmm....

7 o'clock...2 o'clock....24 hour time zone...add a day of the week....

Could be....7 on Monday in the US and at the same time 2 in New Zealand on Tuesday?

Wow, that’s a great start, he only has what, five more levels to build? He’s gonna need a bigger basement. Really, kudos to anyone with that much patience.

And it was beautiful day. Got lots done. Still more to do, but for the present, it is sufficient.

Great Gun-pron(tm). Hi-standard derringer. Those you don’t see often. I liked the Wallet Holster accessory. “here it is, bang-bang” something like that. The .410 version looks like quite a handy tool for the tackle box.

We had a good day today, had breakfast and gambling at the casino... they have a great brunch :~)

And then came back here... we got some nifty birthday presents! One is a vacuum food sealer thingy, and ecurbh is now sealing everything he can get his hands on in the kitchen :~)

Ramius got us Asps. And some letter opener size replicas of sting and Narsil :~)
