Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Wow... I thought he was already dead.
Not unexpected, but still sad. One of the great ones, for sure. RIP.
Tasty, but not lembas. ;-)
Huh...Cisco just treed the cat I’d seen in the backyard before - the one that looks a bit like Frog’s cats. I think he got scratched in the process, which serves him right!
I called him off - the poor thing was terrified - but now I wish I’d taken a picture first...
Morning Winmag - great rundown on magazines, although my preference for aesthics is the 20 round mag, the 30 round ones are infinitely more practical. Thanks again for another great Gunpron (tm).
Thanks for the ping. He was one of the great actors of our time. Made a good president for the NRA as well. Still have my bumper sticker.
Morning - we gots Dafodils, seems the south side ones bloomed yesterday..they are on the mantle today.
Basically, day 12 (a difficult ascent up a mountain that starts before sunrise) is a recapitulation of the emotional journey that was the entire trek. So I'm going to break day 12 into different vignettes and use them to introduce chunks of the story that takes place earlier. So getting up and trying to pack up in the dark is going to lead into the ineptness and bickering of their first days together on the trail.
Can has daffodils?
Ryan Lawn and Tree dropped free samples of bird seed in the driveway...well they’ve got the squirrel business. Hmmmm....there’s an idea. Spread birdseed in the road.
I got some greens planted and spread fertilizer in the front yard. Now it’s time to go racing.
Awesome!
I was wondering yesterday about whether a couple of my Nanos are beyond repair... course I still need to edit last year...
Couple more bags filled; first row of rose-of-sharons is history. Quick work with the electric chainsaw; gotta admit that was one of the best 50 bucks I’ve ever spent. A bit more of the hackbery stump is gone. The little bit left can be covered with dirt. Still gots lots to do, but is looking a whole lot better.
I need to get working on my Nano and another story I’m writing. I’ve made little progress on either since January.
I did hamburgers on the grill, watched therace and a baseball game, took a nap.

Heh, sounds like a full afternoon, burgers-race-baseball-nap. Saw there is a race on next Saturday nite. It’s going to be a long week at werk with the ku blue/red chickens everywhere.
Heh. Yeah, I guess.
I need to go through my seed collection and see what I can donate to thegardenatwerk. I suppose I should do germination tests on some of the older ones.
So...kind of skipping ahead and then using flashbacks, basically?
I need to get back to my story. There’s a bit of rethinking involved, but mostly I just need to commit to getting it done, which I’m...not very good about doing. I need another WriMo.
In other news, I went to the trail and finished day one of the get-into-running program Jen and I did a few years back. I didn’t doubt I’d be able to finish this time around, but it wasn’t exactly a breeze either. I’m sooo out of shape. Again. At least I’m less so than I was the first time I did the program, but I’d have been mortified if I’d seen anyone who knew me. Shorts are not my friend right now...
Don’t feel bad, I’m out of shape too. The last running I did was along the beach in 2001.
Oh and I finally got batteries so I could finally take pictures of my yellow scarf that I made from that Easter egg dye. Here's another pic.
And here are pics of other colors: blue pink and green. All from food dyes and Easter egg dyes. The plan is to brew up a bunch of pastels and do a kickin' granny square afghan out of them.
which get into running program was that?
