The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It’s not fair for my head to feel this way when I wasn’t drinking last night...

It’s dark and wet and making large booming sounds here. Why should the first sign of spring be a thunderstorm?

Good morning! Pretty quiet weekend for us... except last night when we almost got hit by a train.... most surprising because there isn’t a train track within miles of this house! ;~)

A train? Do tell.

I think my office got hit by lightning about 5 minutes ago, the place shook and a light reflector fell down.

We were in the living room, and we suddenly heard a warning horn from a train, coming from over by Rosie’s...

put it in the vault, and then forgot about it

Clearly Jen and I need a bigger vault. Actually what we have is only a 'cabinet'. With her new AR it is technically full too. I mean assuming we actually put all the guns in it at one time. Not that all the handguns would fit anyway. We need something new but we don't have room for anything huge. Someday I want a real walk-in vault for my armory.

I see that you said you heard the warning signal from a train. That’s better than actually hearing a train.

Had it been the latter, I would suggest:

1) cut back on the Chivas, or

2) find a tornado shelter.

I’m just sayin’

It was *really* close from here.

I’m thinkin’ one of the big rigs that has trouble stopping at that corner has a train horn.

But yeah, it startled me - eek!

Yeah - that's what we figure too. ;~)

But it startled us, and we said "was that a train?"

Back in high school I heard about a kid (I forget where) that put an old air foghorn from a state ferry in his car.

Fun could be had.

So far so good here...looks like it’s all moving to the north of us. Heading your way?

That’s odd. Can you tell if the home site is updating?

Is... a puzzlement. Browser times out. But I can resolve DNS and ping it. Can’t trace route.

Flushed the DNS cache. Nada. Rebooted the routers and the computer. Nada. Turned off the firewall. Nada.

I can get anywhere but there, it seems. It’s happened before, and Dona was here using the wifi, and she could get there but I could not. Comes and goes.

Bizarre.

No - the home site does not appear to be updating.

It defaulted to giving me Vaughn. But on the wider view, I can see a few other GH area PWS, but not yours.

OK... this is really strange. I purged browsing history and cookies... and it came right up.

That makes no sense. It’s like having a car that doesn’t start unless you use the windshield wipers first.

I just forced an update to the home site and it should show up again soon.

Especially since they were approaching as they laid on the horn for a loonnnnng blast. Really sounded like an approaching train.

I was wonderin’ if I should get up and run...

Looks like I’ve got a little cell that might get close. It’s been windy so far this morning with the skies mostly gray. No heavy rain yet.
