The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It appears that the pesky groundhog was right, the little furry log.

I don't know, I have to say I think this is one of the most sunny and mild February in my recent memory. :~)

That probably doesn't help you though. ;~)

Well, we're off to our biennial trip to the dump. If we got a couple more cans, we might even be able to make it once a year. With burning all our paper, we really don't make that much garbage.

Woo Hoo! My deposit with the gas company just went towards this month’s bill. No gas payment for February! And I got a $15 dollar discount for spending so much at Price Chopper since the new year.

Well, I think the only question in my mind is what, if anything, should I do about the above notice. It’s remarkably absent in it’s requests for me to do anything in response to it. Rosie has deleted the files.

I certainly don’t want to lose my service, cable is really our only good internet and TV option. So I want Comcast to be happy. Looking out on the internet at threads about this kind of notice, there’s considerable debate about whether I should send any response at all.

I also haven’t seen in those threads any indication that the material owner ever does anything more about it.

Anyway, would appreciate your thoughts.

Would you appreciate my thoughts? Here they are...

“Crap!”

There you go.

Good afternoon. Matthew has a birthday party to go to this afternoon...two of them, as a matter of fact! One is a paintball party and the other is a swimming party at the local high school pool.

So I’m home alone till I have to go to work. Work went well yesterday, even though it was stressful. My medicine did it’s job and my bp never got over 140/90. We seem to have a handle on it at last.

Lucky kid. Hope you have a good day, 2J.

Thank you!

Just checked the bp and it’s 148/92. Not great, but my word...far better than it’s been and I’m not spiking those awful super-high pressures anymore. Haven’t had a really high spike in about 2 and a half days. About the time they doubled my second med and put me on the patch.

I feel kinda woozy. My heart rate stays a steady 60 beats per minute and I imagine that’s going to take some getting used to.

Even if something exciting happens, I just feel like it’s too much effort to get all that excited. Heh! Kinda odd, because I normally have the personality of a chihuahua.

Deny everything, admit nothing, if they sue then countersue for wrongful prosecution and infliction of emotional distress. If they won't settle for leaving you alone then ask the jury for triple damages.

If you've never used BT, and haven't downloaded anything, someone may be using some form of IP masking to hide their true IP, and leave some random customer (you) looking like the evil downloader.

WooHoo on the no February gas bill is right!! I remember when we got our deposit back, but, dang that was a long time ago. How many years does the gas company keep a deposit, 2 or 3 years? Are/Can you go on the level payment plan? We really like the way the payments stay even thoughout the year.

How did you get the Price Chopper discount? Wonder if it was just for you Perfect Village folks (sigh)? LSA

Let’s see....it’s been since November 2004...3+ years? And as cold as it’s been, I expected the bill to be at least $50 more. I guess the insulated door and the window caulking job I did last fall helped a lot.

As for Price Chopper....they said it was a bonus for spending x amount of dollars at that store. Dunno if all the stores are doing it or not.

Okay...bills paid, checkbook balanced, now I can go seed shopping.

Did you know that you can claim energy-saving improvements made on your home on your income tax?

Yeah....I’ve got the door documents on that. Do you get a credit for glazing old windows?

I would do nothing in response. Especially if they’re not making any demands. In fact I’d shred it.

But I’d also make sure my HD was spic and span in case...

I bet so. I bet you could claim materials, at least. If you had someone do it for you, I guess you could claim the cost of labor? I don’t know how you’d claim that if you did it yourself...I guess you couldn’t.

Since it’s probably one of thousands of such letters, I wouldn’t expect any further action, provided that they don’t send additional notices.

I would guess that the way it works is that the RIAA or whatever org gives them a list of servers they’ve found, comcast sends out letters to ask them to stop. If they don’t stop they send another notice, and if they still don’t stop they suspend the account. Or something like that.

There’s going to be many tens of thousands of those. They aren’t going to chase every single one. They’ll try to cut down the numbers first.

Also check to make sure you’ve got security on your wifi.

Yeah, after thinking about it more I tend to agree with Ramius. Just stop using BitTorrent (or at least, turn off uploading, which is easy if I remember right), double-check your wireless security, sit tight, and probably nothing further will come of it.

Lookie what we bought on the way home from the dump! :~)

It's another poor man's fish pond, an upgrade to just putting the fish tank outside again. We saw whiskey barrels on sale, they had one with a pond liner in it but didn't have any like that for sale, so we thought the 16 gallon muck bucket would work nicely, with a little room around the edges to plant some flowers!

Isn't it cute? Now to pour some dirt around the edges and fill it :~D

All ready! Got the dirt in around the edges, got it roughly level and full of water... still no fish yet, I need to go get some clean aquarium gravel and some fresh plants to put in there, and maybe let the temps come up a little before moving the fish and snails out there. I think the longer the water sits and gets it's little ecosystem going the better :~)
