The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

A quick glance shows that most of the ones under $150k or so need work or are on a rented lot. :-\ But I’ll need to save up closing costs and all that anyway, won’t I? So it’ll likely still be a long way off. No telling what the housing market will do in that time.

Just kind of depressing, ‘cause my little house in Vermont - very small two bedroom with no land, but still! - only cost $40k. And sold for 50k. Not that there are tons of houses in that range back home, but there are certainly some very nice ones with even a yard and all for 80k or so.

Closing I think for me was 1.5kb or so. I forget. And sometimes you can get the seller to pick up some or all of that.
Some work is do-able. You know how to do ‘some work’ and can learn anything. For my house I was specifically looking for one that needed things I could do but not too much and had a basement that was finish-able. So targeting specific stuff I knew how to do. Like reroofing it. Never hurts to look around and see what there is.

I don’t have a lot of confidence in my “doing” skills... I’m good at helping, not so good at doing work on my own. Painting, maybe...anything much beyond that, no. Even so, if I really keep an eye out, maybe the right place will come along when I’m ready. I’ll also have to research which local banks if any do full loans for housing, or if I’d need to check on-line or something.

I think I'd offer her a can of tuna first. That look on her face doesn't appear to be very friendly.

On second thought, you’re right! Tuna first, towel second. LSA

Of course just before he was last seen Balthar was ‘socializing’ with Number 6 and Xena at the same time. There are worse things.

Cool!

He’s one of my favorite character. I wike him.

Is it tomorrow that it starts up again?? I’ve lost track! And they sure did leave us on one heck of a cliff-hanger.

I actually lost track of the series after the first half of Season 2, then picked it up again with the second half of Season 3, when it moved to Sunday nights. I just read on Wikepedia that Season 4 is supposed to start in March of this year.

Ah, OK. For some reason I was thinking it was going to start real soon. Durn.

Much of the second season was pretty lousy, IMO, and last season was mixed, but the end of the season was pretty startling. I wanna know what happens next...
