The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I’ve thought about kudzu as biofuel myself on occasion... seems it would make more sense than burning corn!

Minus 10 here. Ugh.

Actually it appears to be closer to -19. It’s dang cold anyway, and the trash had to go out... oh well, at work where it’s warm now.

Weatherunderground said “0.9” when I got up. The bank in Stanley had “3” on the way to werk.

It’s supposed to be upper 40’s on Caturday so I’ll be washing brine off thecar.

Good morning! I’m awake!

Got a lot to do today, but it can wait till after I drink coffee.

I had a very hard and stressful shift last night. I ran full speed from the minute I got there. One of my fellow nurses commented that my face was red. The nurse aide checked my blood pressure and the systolic (top number)was 150.

Great.

I’m not a very big person...I normally run around 110. 150 is pretty high for a person like me and I’ve never had my BP that high except the last week before Matthew was born and they put me on complete bedrest. It was 140 over 90 (up from 90 over 60) that time.

I’m sure that talking about nuke plants WOULD make his head explode.

I love people like that. Get them rolling on pollution and global warming, nod vigorously making 'right on brother' type noises and as soon as there is a lull in the tirade you slip in "And that is why we need more nuclear plants!"
Ah, the wonderful silence reigns.

I don’t know... I don’t know if it was just stress induced or what.

I’m going to keep an eye on it, for sure. If I find it’s just happening when I go in to work at the hospital and is just stress related, I’ll quit that job and go back to just hospice work (which I loved).

No way I’ll put myself on medication if I can fix it some other way.

Take care of yourself!

I was worried about my blood pressure last week when they took it, it was 140/70, but yesterday when I got my all-clear on the mir they checked again and it was at 116/72 which is where it usually is.

I just need to keep exercising.

I did get a nice compliment...

We were getting slammed with patients and I had a post op admission, a regular admission and a patient getting blood. These kinds of things are “high maintenance” things and require a lot of time...slows you down.

When the supervisor came in and told me I was getting another admission, she apologized to me. I turned to her and said “No need to apologize...this is my job.”

I’ve found that if I respond that way verbally when I’m stressed on the inside, it makes me almost believe it and I feel less stressed. Heh! Purposefully psyching myself into feeling less stress by forcing myself to have a positive attitude. It worked. I really did feel less stressed, then the supervisor said “You know, I really appreciate your positive attitude.” Which tickled me and lowered my anxiety even more!

Heh!

Take care 2J... I hope I didn’t saddle you with a big job :~) But give the other project a few days... no rush on that, in fact there’s benefit in waiting.

Lots of good info, Rose! It’ll take me awhile to process it, but thank you!

Trouble is...I won’t remember it in the heat of an argument. :-\ And I think he’d see that fertility rate table as an example of how we need to help other countries be more like us. So there’s that. Ugh.

Like I said, it’s frustrating as all get out to *know* you’re right, but not be able to argue your side properly. And it’s a position I’m in all the time. I hate it, but if all the reading and listening to good arguers and all that doesn’t work for me, I don’t know that I’ll ever get better at it. It’s easier in written form, of course...I can’t think on my feet in a verbal war. I’ve never been good at that. My brain doesn’t function that quickly, plus I end up getting angry, which doesn’t work.

Did your water just go out?

I dunno what’s up...it was working, then I got halfway through brushing my teeth and it stopped running. Blech.
