The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

That’s good. Though, I’d wager it’s already been a learning experience of sorts, huh?

Heh...I think it does make sense. It’s like he’s all confident and gonna knock her off her feet until he’s actually speaking to her...and it doesn’t quite come off as he intended. ;-)

Well...that’s not too bad, then. A bit of a nuisance, but not much more.

Oh well, that’s good!

I had to do that when I was a kid too.

Good. That was the picture I was trying to convey.

And the funny thing is...it might actually work with her. I mean it did take a lot of courage!

Heh heh...ok, I’m done talking about the song.

I did hear something about sleet during Friday morning drive-time ...

*snort* I'm going to have to rag David about that! He couldn't wait to get back to Austin because it was so cold and snowy here over Christmas. ;o)

Don’t they know how to drive in this stuff? :)

Were the roads salted and sanded before the snow fell? That's what the Yankees would assume had happened. If not, they'll be slipping and sliding with everyone else.

A friend of ours moved to Birmingham after living in NJ for many years. The first time they had any snow/ice, he just headed on in to the office, since he was familiar with the process, and he said it was hilarious to see the road crew putting sand on the roads. It consisted of one guy in a pick up truck, sprinkling sand, by hand, on the Interstate ramps.

LOL! That’s a hoot! The dog is even situated, with his front paws over the edge, just like the cats!

ROTFL! The kid wouldn’t have to be worried about the monster in the closet, it would be the monster in bed with him!

That is better newz.

Joseph hasn't lobbied much for getting his license, or even getting out to drive. He's been content to let us drive him around. Fortunately we haven't had to take him too many places. But his 18th birthday is coming up, and I think his permit expires after two years, so I have to call the Driving School to see what we can do about that. SirKit is taking him out to practice. Joseph wants to be completely confident about his driving before he starts driving with the driving school folks. They appreciate having someone behind the wheel who won't get them killed because of inexperience. ;o) We're hoping to get that done in the next month. That way, SirKit will feel OK about leaving for a bit for a consulting job, if he knows I have someone to drive me, in the event of another medical emergency.

You gotta wonder what the person who carved that bed was thinking, or what drugs he was doing, when he decided to do that. That’d creep out most ADULTS, not to mention children!

That is kind of how my driving went. I had no places to go at the time so I did not push for it until mom really wanted me to be able to run errands and pushed me to take the class. I was 17 and a half.

Yeah, once he had his learner’s, Jr. didn’t rush getting the license. Of course failing the written test the first time (I don’t need to study, I know the answers) didn’t help....

I may have told you, but my dad had polio when he was a kid in his throat. His throat will occasionally spasm and shut completely, blocking his airway. One time in my early 20s, while I was washing my car he came running out of the house, grasping his throat and jumped in the passenger side of my car. I knew just what was wrong. The hospital was two blocks away. I jumped in the driver’s seat and TOOK OFF! I took a corner going thirty miles an hour and I’ pretty sure on two wheels, I kid you not.

By the time we got to the hospital, his spasm had relaxed and we drove back home.

We still like to talk about that...it was a very exciting 60 seconds or so.
