An empty vodka bottle was also found in a car used by Amritpal Dhaliwal, 19, and his brother, Kulbir, 23, on the day of the mauling, which left 17-year-old Carlos Sousa Jr. dead, according to the source.

The discoveries could be an indication that the brothers may have taunted the 350-pound Siberian tiger before it leapt from its grotto.

Now we know why they wouldn’t cooperate with police. They should be held accountable.

Doesn't matter ~ the purpose of the barriers is to keep the animals from the visitors and the visitors from the animals.

That the barriers did not work is the only important issue. Everything else in this case flows from that fact.

BTW, if there was a dumpster at the CAFE and the tiger went there first, there's a strong implicit suggestion that the tiger had done that before!

And the tiger rightly removed them from the gene pool. Taunting a tiger is a special kind of stupid.

So how do we get their names to the Darwin Awards Committee?

Just saw a clip of an interview with the dead kid’s dad. He says that it doesn’t matter if the kids were taunting the tiger or not, that there was a failure on the part of the zoo authorities.
Especially in light of the slingshot info, I disagree with him. Seems the tiger was not responding to taunts, but DEFENDING ITSELF!
I think the old man smells a huge lawsuit. I’d like to see him get his wish...and see his family sued for the value of the tiger, it’s pain and suffering, etc.

I can be a cold hearted bastard sometimes, and this is one of them. I feel bad for the family of the dead boy, but not the boys in question. They got what they deserved from being fools.

Martine Colette is absolutely insane if she thinks it's OK to house an adult tiger behind a 10 to 12 foot wall.

Legitimate zoo design folks call for 16 to 20 feet, and even more depending on other features in the enclosure.

I had a house cat who, without provocation, could leap 8 feet to the ceiling and then PUSH OFF. A tiger can do even better, and with no more provocation than the delicious odors emanating from the dumpster out behind the zoo restaurant!

.

“They have not called me,” Sousa said. “Last time I talked to them is when they told me my son wasn’t with them, and the next day I found out my son was dead, and that makes me a little angry but there’s nothing I can do.”

The boys didn’t tell the father that the son was with them or that they were all going to the zoo. Perhaps to cover up a planned crime?

Are they going to pull the “diversity” card out and flash it in our faces?

They were drinking and decided teasing the tiger was a good idea. If they were drunk - say, if blood tests show alcohol in their system - then they are not going to get a dime from a reasonable jury.
Wow! You have a lot of faith in juries. I hope you're right.

They appear to be Punjabis from India, possibly Sikhs.

And that may be why plans went wrong. Sikh and you shall find. (not meant to be a pun jab...)

If I’m on the jury they don’t get a dime. In fact, I’d want them to pay for the death of the tiger and the cost of the investigation. There is such a thing as cause and effect. If they did indeed use a slingshot on the tiger and aggravated it to the point of jumping out and attacking them then they themselves caused it. To bad, so sad.

A good trial lawyer like John Edwards would have the entire jury all crying and angry at the zoo. Big money for a good money attorney.

Even drunks should be able to visit the zoo without fear of being killed by a tiger walking around outside her confinement area.

The tiger should not have been able to just "jump out".

End of story.

The zoo clearly failed to confine the tigers and they did not post a warning sign to the effect that tigers were free to walk about the grounds after 5 PM.

That’s what I think. A John Edwards will squeeze millions from the zoo to reimburse these scumbags. After all, it’s not the JUROR’S money they’re going to be giving away.

If they provoked that poor animal, they deserve everything they got.

A person should expect to die if they provoke a tiger, but do they really deserve to die?
