True but would most wild cats have done this. I’m just saying some animals are meaner than others. I used to have a really bad cat. If he had been Tiger size he would probably have needed shooting, (not that he didn’t anyway:’)

"One witness said at least one of the victims had provoked the tiger"

I need more info than this before I'm going to blame the victim here. Provoked is an ambiguous term and one man's "provoked" may be another man's "trying to get the heck out of the room". I just find it hard to believe someone's gonna "taunt" a roaming tiger. Although I must acknowledge, there's no limit on stupidity.

Agree with you. Unless an animal is rabid, it is neiter good, nor bad, it is merely using instinct.

Unlike mankind, who can devolve with warped ideologies.

The FoxNews expert said that tigers CAN swim well, jump 20 feet, and hate to be taunted.

Too many "might have beens" and "maybes" in the article to be making a statement damning the "Stupidity of Men".

Until there's some concrete evidence either way, it's too early to know what actually happened.

Right now there's a dead human and a dead animal, my sympathy is for the human and the humans family.

They then “yelled at the animal to stop”.

Dumbass plan!
About twice a year I need to hold my little 5 pound tiger down, to refresh his flea collar, he is never impressed by yelling and screaming.
Some critters just don’t fit in cages!

A nail-on-the-head post if I ever saw one.

Assuming she scaled the wall... Even an expert said he didn’t see how it was possible. Unless the cage was opened, the zoo, with what they knew then, thought that the public was safe.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,318365,00.html

One zoo official insisted the tiger did not get out through an open door and must have climbed or leaped out. But Jack Hanna, former director of the Columbus Zoo and a frequent guest on TV, said such a leap would be an unbelievable feat, and “virtually impossible.”

“There’s something going on here. It just doesn’t feel right to me,” he said. “It just doesn’t add up to me.”

Instead, he speculated that visitors might have been fooling around and might have taunted the animal and perhaps even helped it get out by, say, putting a board in the moat.

That’s what picture phones are for. Sending a short vid to the appropriate authorities should help.

Debatable - I think we’re very highly evolved armed social carnivores.

I say again: “Armed social carnivores”.

I am kind of surprised that 9 mm bullets brought the tiger down. Pretty good shooting by the police. I have heard stories where they have pumped multiple bullets into pit bulls, and they just kept going.

probaly so the cheap SOB’s could succeed in denying the keeper’s medical claims. It’s shameful.

I just heard that too. Hanna seemed to be disagreeing with what the earlier guest said.

Someone screwed up, either a zoo keeper or the designer of the enclosure.

Once the tiger got out, it did what tigers do.

Carlos and the other two knew each other (from Fox News).

So now a tiger escapes, attacks Carlos, and kills him, and then just happens to come across his two buddies and attacks them.

This tiger's instincts took control and locked in for a reason.
