Rice Krispies Treats

Posted on 12/23/2007 12:41:28 AM PST by hole_n_one

I'm preparing for a Christmas party and the recipe calls for 40 regular marshmallows, 6 cups of cereal and 3 tbl spoons of butter.

After having dumped out the required amount of marshmallows from the store bought bag, I'm now left with 25 regular marshmallows.

If I wanted to make another batch with only 25 regular marshmallows, how many cups of cereal and how much butter would I need?

I mean really, what the hell am I supposed to do with 25 marshmallows?

Maybe I should have gone with the string cheese instead

I thought the question was more about recipe suggestions vs fractions.

I’m not a marshmellow fan; but the kids love smores. The graham crackers break into halves nicely to give them another finger food.

And make sure you use a real fire to do this. Al Gore needs more help with his global warming arguments :)

>>>I like to add a few to Waldorf Salad & there’s always 5 Cup Salad

THAT’s interesting! I never thought of that. Thanks.

Next time, just buy a jar of marshmallow fluff - it’s a lot easier than melting marshmallows. I made Rice Krispies treats for years and years and never had to buy marshmallows. (Hate them, except toasted.)

I also always make mine with peanut butter in them - infinitely tastier.

P.S. If this is your first time making them, a tip: put a sheet of waxed paper over the top of the pan of the Krispie mixture and press down very hard, all over, to make sure it all holds together before cutting into squares.

If it’s not your first time, please ignore!

Merry Krispmas!

*Snap, krackle, pop!*

My mother used any left over cake icing, to make graham cracker sandwiches.

One could put the crackers on a tray, the marshmallow on top and nuts or C. chips on it, and another cracker, stick in the oven and melt enough to make a sandwich.

LOL, several years ago, I read that marshmallows were good for you, so I bought a bag. Forgot what the ‘good ‘ was, that they contain.

I think my sister threw them in the trash, they sat there and got hard as a rock, as for some reason, eating marshmallows, never did tempt me.

Waldorf Salad:

chopped walnuts
mini marshmallows or large marshmallows cut up with a hot knife
raisins
chopped celery
red Delicious apples cut into cubes with peel on and mixed into mayonnaise during the cut (we like Miracle Whip with this) to keep them from browning.

Fold together in proportions that appeal to you. Serve cold on lettuce or not.

I like to sneak a touch of cinnamon into Waldorf Salad, too.

Try dipping cut apples in salt water to keep them from turning brown. Works great for freezing apples, too.
