You have to change the input setting on the TV for one thing. ...you should have an ‘input’ button on the TV and remote.

We just did this today for our daughter (different brand of tv though), had to change the tv input to ‘pc vga’ with the remote and also reboot the pc.

To connect my laptop to my Toshiba lcd, the resolution has to be set to 1024x768 for the signal to go through. Could be the same in your case.

Input or Source button on remote. My Samsung has Source, not Input. Usually shows up on screen as PC, HDMI, Component 1, Component 2, etc. as you press Input or Source button repeatedly. Also make sure your TV is off when making the connection so your TV will recognize it when it’s turned back on. Good luck.
