she wasn't ready for professional golf.

Michelle Wie was not and is still not even ready for the LPGA and has no business trying to compete with the men at this stage in her career.

That’s not to say that she doesn’t have talent, but her talent is yet to be proven among the best women golfers in the world - she’s yet to even win a on the LPGA tour – she’s not even an LPGA member.

She can sure smack the ball a long way but she doesn’t understand course management and she falls apart when things don’t go her way; she’s a Prima Donna and given to temper tantrums as I’ve witnessed personally.

I saw her in person the last three years when volunteering as a course marshal at the LPGA championships in Maryland and off the tee, while she was often impressive on her drives she seems to fall apart afterward. But she sure traveled with a big entourage including her dad, who kept her far away from the gallery and was constantly coaching and yelling at her from the sidelines. She impressed me as being very cold and arrogant and having a sense of entitlement that far exceeded her current abilities. I think her father is a big part of blame for her blow up. I think he pushed her too hard before she was ready.

Annika Sorenstam paid her dues on the LPGA tour for many years and dominated there long before she even considered trying to play with the men and even given her great talent, she still fell short trying to play with the boys in the PGA.

That’s not to say I don’t think some of the women golfers play as hard and as good as some of the men, but Michelle isn’t ready. There are some other young women in the LPGA who have more talent and game than Wie like Morgan Pressel.

And Paula Creamer, Chrisite Kerr, Loreena Ochea, etc.

I'm not a golfer, but isn't coaching or giving advice illegal? Isn't the caddie the only person allowed to consult with the golfer?

she reminds me of two words in women's sports....Anna Kournikova

If the press loves you, your agent loves you and you keep your mouth shut except what the advertisers say you should say....then she'll make a mint.

Till the "next" female Tiger Woods comes along.

There are great athletes in all sports of both genders. It's the press that tries to get in there and "make a story" or "give meaning" to the athlete that screws it all up.

Does anybody remember Michael Vick? ... Nike doesn't therefore you never hear about him. Same with the tennis player Blake....or insert any number of over-hyped players in any sports.

I would disagree. She's proven that she has the talent to win at the highest level on the LPGA Tour. While you're right--she hasn't yet won--she's finished third in the US Women's Open, 3rd in the Kraft (fka Dinah Shore), 2nd in the LPGA, and 3rd in the Women's British. So she's finished third or better in each of the LPGA major championships. I simply cannot agree that this is not indicative of a talent level that is among the best on the LPGA tour. Regretfully, 85% of golf is played between the ears, and Wie, while blessed with tremendous talent, hasn't shown herself capable of handling her head.

Wie has regressed in recent years and I believe (as I have consistently argued) that this was a result of her (or her father's) desire to play on the men's tour. As should be painfully obvious now, this was a very poor decision.

Agreed, she has talent but was pushed for her media value.
