It's the most wonderful time of the year...With my Utes winning bowl games and BYU losing so I'll be of good cheer...it's the most wonderful time of the year...
--Ow! Tomatoes hurt you know. Sheesh...
During the regular season, I would normally do my fancy and mildly humorous graphical elements and those of you who would like me to feature their school's games, I would oblige. However, since we've got miles to go before we sleep, I'll re-ping the list as we go along and include said graphics. Sound like a deal? Excellent.
Tomorrow the fun will begin. (For me, at least). :)
The thing that I think tipped the Refs to calling that a penalty was they had just warned the Texas sideline to stand back and then a few plays later, that happened. Which brings a point I heard on Collin Cowherds program this AM. Why does any team need that many coaches and/or football staff on the sidelines? Good gosh it looked like the number of non unifomed people outnumbered the uniformed.
Excellent point.
You are right about the Longhorns. They did appear to have a lot of support staff (coaches, waterboys, etc) on the field.
The thing that was on display last night that was missing alot this season was the intensity level. It kind of sagged a little in the third qtr, but the Horns got a turnover and they regained it and stuck the pitchfork in the Devils early in the 4th.
Dare I say if we had played with that same intensity against Aggy and K-State, the Horns might very well be playing on Jan 7 or the very least, one of the BCS games.
Here’s hoping we carry it over to next season.
“Hey, he made it on ESPN Sports Center! He and Mack swear he didnt touch the ball.”
I bet that Cub fan that screwed up the Cubs chance at the World Series a few seasons ago was hoping the Horns would have lost. Jessie would have taken his place on all of the countdown shows about sports bloopers and curse.
The A&M game was an odd game, I was rather amazed that A&M appeared like they "wanted it more" if you'll pardon the cliche. I guess some might say the same thing about the OU game, but I think the Sooners were on a flat-out mission after last year's Fiesta Bowl.
The replay that ESPN aired probably absolved Mack’s stepkid, but I don’t think I’ve seen an entire sideline menagerie that close to the field.
Totally agree on the “WTF” though.
Thanks. Will be tonight between the UConn men’s basketball game vs. University of Central FL, in Orlando, and a few of the bowl games tonight. Go UConn! Tommorow, it is just 13 hours what I have been waiting since early September. Beat Wake Forest Demon Deacons!!!! :)
Erin Andrews sighting at the Alamo Bowl, tell your friends and set your TiVo’s!!
That reminds me, what do you folks think of Matt Ryan as an NFL prospect? Appears as though he has good arm strength and some poise in the pocket and he can improvise—as his TD pass in BC’s first game against Va Tech proved. But I’m sort of curious about how he’d do in the NFL.
Well, it’s a final BC 24 Michigan State 21. 8th straight bowl win. That’s it, Boston College, Eagles/Utes for the longest bowl winning streak in the country. You name the time and the place and it’s ON!
I’m watching the Emerald Bowl for one reason. I usually love the Emerald Nuts commercials.
Yeah, yeah, I know. But they usually have very original commercials.
After seeing two of ‘em, I feel like driving broken chopsticks into my eyeballs!
“I am Norman and I am great...I am Norman and I am also great...”
Egomaniacal Normans love Emerald Nuts.
Great ad campaign.
I wish the Texas Bowl were on ESPN instead of the NFL Network. I love watching the Univ of Houston and their high-octane offense.
But the game looks pretty slow right now. 10-7.
TCU is the type of team that likes to force their style of play on their opponents: run the ball, very tough and tenacious defense. If you got the chance to watch them play against Texas this year, they played that way for about a half until UT just overwhelmed them.
So IOW, I’m not that surprised it’s only 10-7 right now.
All of which brings us to an Aggie yell leader (sort of a cheerleader) during a pep rally yesterday shouting that Paterno needed a "casket and that he was on his "death bed." The attempt at humor was ill-received and the fellow was sent home post-haste.
Paterno, meanwhile, took it with good humor.
"I think everybody has to take things with a grain of salt," the Penn State coach said. "Some young guy went up there, trying to be funny. Maybe he's accurate, I don't know."
I loved Paterno’s comment on it, he had that “yeah, he said it but we’re just going to go out and kick their ass” sort of mindset about it.
He’s probably seen everything at this point in his career up until that. :)
MWC 3-0 ACC 1-0 Sun Belt 1-0 Big East 1-0 Big 12 1-0 Big 10 1-1 WAC 0-1 MAC 0-1 CUSA 0-2 Pac 10 0-2 SEC 0-0
Games currently Underway Maryland (ACC) 14 - ORegon State (Pac-10) 14, TCU (MWC) 10 - Houston (CUSA) 10
Houston is now losing 20-10 with a litle over 7 minutes left.
It looks like the Cougars are about to lose their 8th straight bowl game.
If TCU could have found a more consistent offense they would probably be playing in a better bowl game than the Texas Bowl.
