"In answer to questions about whether he would sign an assault weapons ban, Romney said: "Just as the president said, he would have, he would have signed that bill if it came to his desk, and so would have I."
What be your definiton of "assault weapon" there, Mitt?

If you are a Mitt supporter, this is very troubling IMHO, along with the claim of the NRA's endorsement, which wasn't. (my first choice is Tancredo, but realistically, I support FDT.)

So what's new?
"I know the NRA does not support an assault weapon ban. So I don't line up on that particular issue with the NRA ..."

Hey, according to Mitt's most famous statements on the whole issue of weapons, you'd think the second amendment was all about hunting, anyway...and so why would ya need an assault weapon for hunting?

If any of you caught Mitt on the Timmuh! show Sunday, you saw him defend his stance against “assault weapons” and, in the same breath, claim that he had support from the NRA. It turns out that he didn’t have the endorsement he claimed.
I don’t know why he has taken this particular stance when he has, er, amended his position on a variety of other issues in order to make his candidacy more palatable, but I am not impressed.
Big mistake Mitt!

Mitt is also against high powered weapons too. I guess you deer hunters are screwed!

Seems like they needed an option for “The weapons they want to ban aren’t “assault” weapons anyway, you dork!”
