“The Big Mew’s been jonesing for a generator”

We had a major ice storm a few years back and I picked up a generator because the power wasn’t restored for over a week.

Just big enough to run the furnace, a few lights and a T.V.

5 gallons of gas every 19 hours. Of course with todays prices, 5 gallons every 19 hours for a week would get pretty expensive.

“and I’ll bet you can’t find either at the moment.’

Got mine a Lowes during the height of the storm. They are probably still available right now, but don’t wait until the powers out.

You ain't kidding. I'm half-expecting the Big Mew to come home with one or the other :)

Out here on the Oregon Coast we lost our power for two days a couple of weeks ago (100MPH winds!). We were lucky - some of our neighbors to the north lost their power for nearly a week. Mr. Inspectorette and some of our neighbors are seriously considering automatic standby generators. You can use either propane, or hook into natural gas. They kick on automatically when the power goes out.

They're a little pricey, but they are a capital investment that add to the value of the house.
