At least Romney practices his religion, which is more than I can say for most of the other candidates.

So did Anton Levey and Alister Crowley.

Personally, to me, that’s the bottom line.

Great, vote for him.

IOW, I’d rather have a good Jew than a rotten Methodist any day.

Personally I'd just like to have a candidate (Mormon, Atheist, Jew, Jehovah's Witness, Agnostic, whatever) who was not afraid to answer any question posed to him and didn't get offended if people questioned some bizzare of his unique religious beliefs. Romney's religion is probably the most important thing in his life. For that reason alone we need to know exactly what he believes that may be different from mainstream christianity.

Let’s cut through the bs, shall we?

Indeed, we should. Let's not put up roadblocks to determining how a candidate views the world either politically, personally, or religiously. Let's just air out all the dirty laundry.

This is what you wrote:

"Rudy Giuliani's Catholicism is not an issue in this campaign, mainly because he is at best a nominal Catholic. But if Rudy suddenly had a stigmata experience or claimed to have personally spoken with the Virgin Mary who told him to run for President, you can bet your bottom dollar that Rudy's Catholicism would be getting some serious scrutiny. Well Romney is a follower of a character who in 1830 claims to have been visited by God the Father (who just happened to have a body of flesh and bone) and Jesus Christ and they told his character that all the other churches in the world (yours, mine, everybody's) was is open apostasy and their teachers were all corrupt and that he should join no church. Romney has undoubtedly stood up a thousand times in his lifetime and bore testimony that this Character was a True Prophet of God and that Mormonism is the ONLY TRUE CHURCH on the face of the earth. Every good Mormon is expected to bear that testimony in front of their congregations."

Looks like you're using a totally double standard. Romney hisself is not claiming to have been visited by God the Father in 1830. And neither is Guiliani claiming to have the stigmata, so we're all good, eh? Your "logic" is totally screwed.

I’ll ask it again. WHAT can anyone point to that is uniquely Mormon in anything that Romney has ever done in his public life? If you can’t come at Romney from this angle over his religion then you ARE a bigot.

Yeah right. You don’t pass the smell test. You want to make this all about religion. You think somehow that Romney will MORMONIZE the country much like bigots thought Kennedy would CATHOLOGIZE the country. Take a walk.
