Dear FRiends
It really pains me to see some of those vicious anti-Mormons attacks we see on Free Republic disguised under the freedom of speech. Attacking people based on their Mormon faith is really disgusting and it is an insult to this great forum. People who do not like Governor Mitt Romney based on his positions are free to express their opinion as such, but people who attack him because he is a Mormom should be ashamed of themselves and must not be allowed to do so.
I greatly hope that Free Republic members and moderators will get together and help in stopping this anti-Mormon vitriol, this great Free Republic must not be tainted by these shameless acts.
“check the Catholic threads. I think more people attack Catholic doctrine than do Mormon doctrine”
I’m a Catholic married to a Methodist who can’t stand (most) Catholics.
Christmas must be fun at your house!!!!!
“Christmas must be fun at your house!!!!!”
I won’t even go there... :-)
I know you are just joking, but seriously, if you do have major concerns that you feel are not being addressed by a moderator, Jim Robinson is very accessible. From the help page -
Don't be a whiner - If you really, really find Free Republic not to your liking, let the webmaster know directly (webmaster@freerepublic.com), learn to live with it, or move along
I have written to Jim several times on issues that concerned me and he answered me every time and personally addressed my concerns.
That's not polytheism.
Polytheism posits that there are individual gods that each garner different elements of reality, and manifest in only those specific elements.
Is that attacking Mormons in your opinion or proving a fact with truth and free speech?
"With God, all things are possible."
Jesus: "Before Abraham was, I AM."
“They themselves are separating themselves from Evangelical Christian churches and doctrine. It follows that they are not, therefore, Christian (though someone with the name Jesus is central to both faiths).”
Pretty much my thoughts on the matter.
I Dare say that most religions that call them selves Christian believe that God, Christ and the holy spirit are all one. It is called the trinity. Are you saying that those that believe in the trinity are not Christian? Or are you saying that Christians are polytheist?
At least Romney practices his religion, which is more than I can say for most of the other candidates. Personally, to me, that’s the bottom line. IOW, I’d rather have a good Jew than a rotten Methodist any day. Let’s cut through the bs, shall we?
I asked for the same thing 1 hr and 45 minutes ago. I'm still waiting for a reply.
LOL. Well you just go on being “unsettled”. I recognize that all religions claim theirs is the only way to heaven. I AM a gentile. I am an episcopalian. Call me either with a smile on your face and I will respect you for acknowledging my differentness to you. Spit it out with venom or say something like “Episcopalians are in league with Anglican church and are toddies to Britain” and well I’ll laugh but I’ll know you don’t want to talk, but that you want to fight because you are acting like an idiot. Same thing goes for the Husksters comments about Mormons.
Apparently, the open forum cant handle discussing differences and considers any such discussion to be an attack.
What's an "attack" and what's just disagreement are going to be subjective determinations. But there is a difference between discussing religious differences as a matter of theological academics, and making it an object of political activism.
FW how do you respond to the following:
1. Members of the Church of LDS are counted as members until they are over 100 years old. Even if they are known to have died.
2. Members who relocate from one church to another are counted on BOTH membership roles until the over 100 is reached.
3. According to the website mormoncurtain.com and several others the actual membership of the church is 2-4 million in the US. I have reviewed census numbers for the last census and by doing some simple math using the figures of people who indicate they are Mormon I can not get a membership number of more than 2.65 million in the US.
4. If all of the above is true. How are we suppose to treat a church that goes so far out of it’s way to exaggerate members?
5. Lastly, I have been told by Mormons that they consider Jesus their “brother”. Is that standard Mormon doctrine?
I ask with all due respect in search of the truth.

If you were looking for the truth, you wouldn’t be going to anti Mormon websites and posting their obvious lies. It’s amazing how easy it is to copy and paste their lies.
I appreciate all the good comments my fellow Christians have posted. The best way to combat the hatred on here in the future is to not respond to it. Can we all agree to that?
He pinged the people, who were called Jihadists for expressing their beliefs.
Go to the Romney threads and you find plenty but may be what I consider anti-mormom attacks you do not.
The usual term of derision is "triune god." I've seen it used by proselytizing atheists, and by ultra-Orthodox Jews. Such is the nature of religious freedom. You take the good with the bad, as far as speech. No one is obliged to speak well of my religion, just as I am not obliged to speak well of anyone else's.
Excellent point!
BTW, I like your tag line, mind if I use it sometime?
