Anti-Mormons Attacks Must Stop, FR is Better Than That (Vanity)
December 12 2007 | jveritas

Posted on 12/12/2007 6:27:59 PM PST by jveritas

Dear FRiends

It really pains me to see some of those vicious anti-Mormons attacks we see on Free Republic disguised under the “freedom of speech. Attacking people based on their Mormon faith is really disgusting and it is an insult to this great forum. People who do not like Governor Mitt Romney based on his positions are free to express their opinion as such, but people who attack him because he is a Mormom should be ashamed of themselves and must not be allowed to do so.

I greatly hope that Free Republic members and moderators will get together and help in stopping this anti-Mormon vitriol, this great Free Republic must not be tainted by these shameless acts.

Spot on.

In fact, some vitriolic Freepers sound more like DUmmies as of late, and it really makes me depressed.

Like you said, I always prided my conservative/Republican leanings on the fact that we do NOT just blindly attack or accuse any group like that, especially an historically good an decent patriotic group such as the LDS.

I mean c'mon, these hate-filled Freepers are accusing Marie and Donny as being the spawn of Satan, and they should either be called on it.

We would NEVER stand for that if it came from a DUmmy disruptor, and we shouldn't accept it now just because its coming from a "registered" Freeper.

They even stoop so low as to call them ... kayaks! Shhh, don’t repeat that in polite company.

You are simply fanning the hatred for perverse reasons of your own.

I just found some gold tablets out back and am starting a new religion based on em. I hope I’ll get the same tolerance myself.

You will. That is the beauty of America.

Of course I can tell from your smarmy sarcasm that you don't care for that beauty.

Just a ping to remind myself to read this thread tomorrow. Came in late and don’t have time right now but looks fun.

“Thanks. By your term “us” does that mean you are my first follower ?”

One of the 13,000,000. But I’m polytheistic, I’m a God also.

“I’m still working on translating things off my find. So I might be a bit getting the rules you’ll have to follow faxed over to you.”

I’m waiting impatiently, ready to serve.

I’ve used this argument before, it really irritates the yokels. Once you declare yourself a God with your own religion, they can’t say squat to you without ‘mocking your religion’. That’s when the fun begins and you can make up sacred religious events (not to ever be mocked) like the naked May Pole ribbon dance where followers hang by their teeth and spin wildly to their exaltation.

Bring sandwiches ... and something to wash them down with, and swallow fast so you don’t spit on the monitor.

Several of the Founding Fathers were Masons, and they too, “had secret rituals”, oooh.

And it was an issue back then too.

“Secret handshakes with secret meanings” - are you for real?

I take it you're not a Temple Mormon.

If I were to post a picture of one of the secret handshakes from the Mormon Temple ceremony, I can guarantee it will be removed before morning and I will probably be suspended from posting here for two weeks. But you can find them on the internet.

I hope you are not saying that those who are pointing out the inherent differences between Mormonism and Christianity are committing attacks on Mormons.

When you use those differences as some Litmus Test, then yes it is bigotry.

Political bigotry.

Do you also feel it acceptable to refuse service to someone at a restaurant or other business simply because they belong to the LDS?

And after you of course answer "no" -- I ask, what's the difference?

Wow, justifying an extermination order to kill American citizens just because of their religious affiliation.

Do you think the pogrom at Haun's mill (3 days after the extermination order was signed) which resulted in 18 deaths was a defensive action?

Furthermore, was Missouri wrong in 1976 to express a "deep regret for the injustice" of the extermination order?

Posters should be prohibited from giving medical advice unless they can provide the proper medical credentials.

That is correct.

If I were a paraplegic, I might have been sorely offended by that remark.

A person’s choice of religion speaks to his judgment...

Then get specific and name that person's "judgemental" lapse, but leave the religion alone.

That is the American way.

I used to come here much more often, but the frequent religious bigotry turned me off, and now I check in only rarely. I'm talking about anti-Catholic, anti-Hindu, anti-Mormon, and, though admittedly a special case, extreme vitriolic anti-Muslim sentiments.

People can post what they like, but I think religious chauvinism hurts the cause of the political right.

I think you are right about the trolls.

There are many companies which now do “viral advertising” for hire. We had the “giuliani storm” in recent history. We also have a few here who seem to post to blogs and file them under breaking or current news.

We also have libertarians and atheists who post here and stir up trouble just to see our reactins.

c-span suffers the same problem.

Has the belief changed since the days that Brigham Young was the President?

What belief. It seems to me to be a huge stretch to try and attribute what has never been a part of LDS Doctrine, to Brigham Young, long dead, and something he said in the Tabernacle, that is simply a reference to the War in Heaven.

Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of the Father, in the flesh. That is a Doctrine that matters, anything related to Satan is head of the pin conjecture since it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ to which we adhere and we strive not to lend any legitimacy to the fallen angel and his doctrine.

The doctrine of Jesus Christ is found in the Holy scriptures.

Did you hear about the one where Jesus returns to Earth,

and is asked by a collective of the heads of the world’s religions,

“Did you come to tell us which of our religions is the RIGHT one?”

Jesus said: “No. I came to tell you that they are all wrong.”
