The sentence first has to survive the appeals process. If it stands, I believe Federal sentencing rules require something like 80% of the sentence to be served before you can be released. Perhaps someone with specific knowledge will chime in.

Does he get any leniency for voluntarily starting his prison time back on Nov. 19? You would think that would win some brownie points with the judge, but who knows.

Not sure. Is this in Federal custody??? If Fed, he served the full term, I believe.

There is no parole for federal crimes. There is time off for good behavior, but that cannot exceed 15% of the sentence. So he must serve, at a minimum, 85% of 23 months (too lazy to do the math right now).
