The sentence first has to survive the appeals process. If it stands, I believe Federal sentencing rules require something like 80% of the sentence to be served before you can be released. Perhaps someone with specific knowledge will chime in.

i think he waived the appeals process. that's at least what ESPN is saying. whatever sentence was imposed by the judge was the last word is what they are saying. i guess he wanted to seem like he was ready to accept responsibility and get a lighter sentence.

but like all criminals, he's just sorry he got caught.

When you arrive at a deal with the prosecution and plead guilty, I don't believe that you can appeal. In the unlikely event that a judge would allow the plea to be withdrawn, Vick would have to go to trial and roll the dice for a much longer sentence. My guess is that he will stay quiet and do his time.

There is no parole or early release in the Federal prison system. Vick will serve everyday of the 23 months.

IIRC Vick waived any right to appeal when he made his deal. He's still looking at a lot more from the state charges.
