Once may be enough for Led Zeppelin as band members reunite for the first time in 19 years at a much-hyped London concert Monday.
Some 20 million people competed in an Internet lottery for the 18,000 tickets, priced at 125 pounds (175, US$250) each, for the show at London's O2 Arena. It has already been postponed a month because of guitarist Jimmy Page's broken finger.
Page, 63; John Paul Jones, 61, and Robert Plant, 59 original members of the band have recruited drummer Jason Bonham, 41, to take the place of his father, John Bonham, who died in 1980.
The band split up after Bonham's death, and whether there will be any more Led Zeppelin reunions is an open question.
Page has said he is eager to do it, Jones has been noncommittal and Plant, in effect, said: "Don't ask."

Well yeah, most bands are without someone being outstanding...
Back in the day there was a clear definition between Rock and other genres. Today those genres are fused together. What passes for new country sounds a lot like old Southern Rock to me, new Funk incorporates flavors of hip hop and Pop tries to sample from everything.
The lines are not clear anymore. I once broke up with a girlfriend because she liked Disco.
Yep, the business model is “your fame/success is entirely tied to the industry”. They can make or break you.
The producer/choreographer is the real star.
And they sign you for a 10 year contract which you will be paying off for the next 10 years (there is studio cost, video production, marketing, etc, etc.). They get the acts on the tab to the label for money that will take years to pay off.
There are acts that don’t play that game. We are told that they must not be any good because they get ignored by radio/tv booking. Clear Channel owns the contracts on most major venues in every city in this country. If Clear Channel isn’t going to play your band, why should they book a “nobody” at a big venue even as an opener?
The Monkees reunited in the 1990s (WITH Micheal Nesmith). The same time as the Beatles did (for tv), the Rutles did (for another video and a new album), and the Monks (the anti-Beatles).
He looks a bit like Barney Frank.
Maybe from behind.
I would not know about that. LOL
The original Monkeemobile is going to be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction in January.
(Also the original Beverly Hillbillies car and the Monster Garage collection)
I don’t look any older. Everyone else just looks younger (and they all have tattoos!)
Ping.
I always tell people: If you want to be a famous singer, there's really only one thing you have to be good at: Dancing.
I'm not quite serious, but music videos really changed the dynamic of what makes a star.
Also, I've heard songs on the radio, and in just the first few notes I knew it was a big, special song -- it wasn't the singer, or the musician that let me know that. It was the producing. Some songs sound MUCH better than others. A great producer can do wonders for no-talent kids.
Jimmy Page is 63...wow.
lol, me too. I was working at a Chevrolet/Mercedes dealership. A man came u p to me and started talking to me. He said he was waiting for his mercedes to be ready when he told me that he was here on tour, and offered me back stage passes. He told me his name was John Paul Jones.
I, not being allowed to listen to rock and roll as a young kid was NOT up to speed on who was who. I came into work the next day, there was a message at the receptionist desk from John Paul Jones apologizing he could not get me those back stage passes. The two women stood there staring at me as I received that message.
funny.
Later I realized who I was talking to, and I was blown away.
All thes old reunion kickers. If you want to see some amazing guitar playing check out Buckethead. Pure genius.
He looks good.
Peter Tork
Mickey Dolenz
and Davy Jones.
I recall having a Monkees lunchbox when I was 9. Probably'd be worth some good coin on Ebay today. Who knew?
I can’t even look in the mirror to shave anymore, and Mike was the only member of that group worth a damn.
How many people know that the song that Made Linda Ronstadt famous was written by him?
Who even knows the song “Joanne?”
I hate looking old. - I'd go have a drink, but I gave that up long ago.
They don’t have anywhere near the stage presence of James Brown.
And Elvis was known for his dancing and the reaction he got from girls far more than for his singing (although he’s probably the only act to top the pop, country AND R&B charts with the same songs).
