Help! Social Security says I don't exist?

I went to get a new S.S. card and was told I don't exist.

I’d go with stormer’s suggestion and get a referral. Good luck with that. You might try contacting the VA too, but I don’t know if that would help.

My first and last name is the same as my fathers and we both thought that meant I was a jr. and every id I had I had a jr. at the end. Enlisted and was told if it’s not on the birth certificate, I’m no junior.
Paid taxes and s.s. for 40+ years with a jr. at the end of my name. When it came time to file for ss it took about 3 minutes to correct.
As for the poster, look closely at his name. I don’t know where the bell star is but I don’t believe it’s any where near this world.
Alien and not the kind that swims across the Rio Grande.

Contact your senator or representative’s office and ask for help. They should be there to help with just this sort of issue & know how to escalate the issue with Social Security.

Is your real name 'unique?' My maiden name can also be a first name and my real first name can sorta be a last name...and somewhere along the line part of my (very plain) first name became an 'initial.' It was an 'easy fix' though...no explanation given. I bet you have been filing a tax form every year...so they will 'find' you.
With all of the troubles my name has given me over the years, I sometimes wish I could have talked my husband into giving our kids 'creatuve' names.
