ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Channel 9 obtained video of a man who stormed onto a school bus and threatened children. The man was angry because the children threw crayons at his SUV.
When the bus stopped, that's when he got on. The kids said he had a gun and, while the video doesn't show it, you can hear the man threatening to use a weapon.
Orange County Schools hope someone recognizes the man on video. A school bus camera captured the black and white video of him storming onboard despite pleas from the bus driver.
The students from CEP Northwest were on the way home from school Friday afternoon. Before the confrontation, kids were throwing crayons out the window at another car. That's apparently what caused the man to snap.
"The bus driver opened the door and let him get on the bus and he was yelling at the other students and stuff, like, 'Who threw the crayons?' Or whatever. And when he got off, he showed us the gun," said student Shawnte Frink.
While a gun never appears in the video, you can hear the man threaten to use one.
"I got something for your a**. That iron will set your mind right," the man yelled.
"In the video, you can hear him say this "iron" will get your mind right. Was there a concern about a more serious threat?" WFTV reporter Eric Rasmussen asked Rickey Horton, head of Orange County Bus Operations.
"That I did not hear and, again, he should've never been on the bus to begin with," Horton said.
"When I opened the door, the guy was around the bus. Didn't see him come in the bus," the bus driver told Eyewitness News.
School officials believe the bus driver did all he could, but some parents disagree.
"People going crazy now. They doing all kinds of stuff to these kinds. And for the bus driver to let the man on with a gun. That's putting all the kids and his life in jeopardy," said parent Stephanie Brooks.
Nobody can confirm if anyone called police to report the incident. The students who were responsible for throwing the crayons could be suspended.
Why did the bus driver allow this clown on the bus? The photos of him are clear enough that they’re likely to be able to track him down and if they do he’s got a *serious* problem.Like 20 years or more.
Wouldn’t you know it? I’m guilty of stereotyping again.
I saw where this was and immediately pictured a cratchety octogenarian.
I never considered a bling-laden thug
Wow, tough guy, huh? Takes a special kind to threaten little kids.
That said, WHAT in the WORLD was the bus driver doing letting ANYONE on that bus?
What kind of KID’S Bus Driver OPENS the door to a STRANGE MAN???
Actually, the first thing I thought of was a “bling laden thug” driving his ‘lade with 20” spinners.
I'm not going to waste my time with the video. Maybe this guy overreacted, but your Hillary Clinton type reaction is a bit much too. From the description I read it sounds like the "little kids" attacked him. Is there no level of attack that a child might make upon an adult where you would allow the adult to, ooooh, "threaten" the child?
ML/NJ
I didn’t watch it either, btw. But I would posit there is no justification whatsoever for this gentleman to threaten kids with a firearm.
The buses around here usually have the windows open. It’s amazing the amount of crap that “blows” out of the windows as they pass people. Coke cans, pencils, paper balls all aimed at people walking along the side of the road.
The little dears, aren’t they just soooooo cute?
He could get charged for each kid he threatened.
True enough. Also,I'll bet that he can charged with kidnapping each of the kids on the bus and the driver too.
Who the hell was driving the bus? This guy?
Having said that, my kids' bus driver has a good solution for these kinds of situations. She turns the bus around, takes the offending youngster(s) back to school, and leaves them there. School admin has to call the parents to come and get them. I've never known it to happen to the same kid twice.
For whatever reason, the kids behave on the way in to school. It's in the afternoon when they turn into basket cases.
