Wolves roaming the outskirts of Fairbanks are making pet owners nervous...
What the story calls a pack of bold, hungry animals made lunch of two dogs recently - one in North Pole and one about 20 miles out Chena Hot Springs Road.
A number of callers to the Department of Fish and Game have reported spotting the pack.

Snack Packs?
Don’t worry, I’ve heard enviro scientists say this does not happen and that wolves would never attack people.
Its probably just a matter of time before the wolves make a fatal mistake or pick the wrong house to visit, said Tom Seaton, assistant area management biologist for the Department of Fish and Game in Fairbanks.
They seem to be getting bolder and bolder, he said.
At some point theyre probably going to make a mistake by taking something in the daylight and showing up some place where somebodys got a gun.
Last autumn, we were told that the wolves were on the top of the food pyramid in Denali and the moose poplulation was suffering for it (moose babies getting picked off....). And that it was a 60 year cycle to get back in balance because you can’t hunt in the National Park. When the moose population falls, the wolves lose their food source, then THEY die off and the moose will make an ascendence. Not complicated, just nature at work. Good game management (a wolf season) would certainly help.
Please pass the Grey Poupon!

When you look at the lower 48, the wolves will not be so limited. The supply of easy beef will keep them well fed.
Remember, to control wolves; you must kill 75% of them every year; they are very prolific.
