The whole point of these bowl games derails the universities. The country and the school forget their prime reason for existence is academic education - not entertainment/sports/games, etc. The push for state champions at high school level and national champion at college level have distorted the education process and pushed it into the background.

Lots of parents sacrifice their kids on the altar of performance in the sports arena, to their shame.

Sports are a religious experience for many, a “new drug” for others. Too much.

No, no, their prime reason for existence is to churn out as many indoctrinated liberals as possible. Never lose sight of that.

Football brings a huge amount of money to these universities, creating many scholarships and funds for programs they wouldn't have.

Plus, it gives many young men a chance to go to school they otherwise wouldn't have.

This is capitalism at work, and working well, your argument that it detracts from academics just doesn't hold up.

As far as the Bull Crap System is concerned, it is obviously a failure; we need an 8 or 16 team playoff system.

Universities prepare their students for a variety of vocational and professional pursuits - sports is one of those. If you want to play professional football, a college team is where you prepare.

College hasn’t been about education for decades. At least the sports departments don’t lose money.

Perhaps this occurs, because ability still counts in sports. There are no affirmative action advantages in sports.
